You want to suggest a new trope, but don't know the steps for it? See this guide.
- Make sure there isn't such a trope already. Use the search engine and dig through the main indexes at Tropes.
- Ask in Trope Finder if anyone knows such a trope. Give it a few days for people to respond.
- We probably don't have a page for it yet. Ask in this thread
with a few example cases in full detail if the concept is plausible as a trope. - With some work, it's possible to make the idea into a trope. See the entirety of TLP Guidelines about how it's done and follow along.
- If you're not feeling like doing the work, you can add it to Trope Idea Salvage Yard so someone in the future may pick it up, though don't get your hopes too high.
