Resurgence (or, more fully, Star Wars Episode IX: Resurgence) is a treatment written by Alan Dean Foster. It was written before Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was released, as the hypothetical sequel Foster would have made if he were writing episode nine.

- Clone Army: Snoke returns by cloning himself- not just once, but hundreds of times, creating an army of Snoke clones.
- Conservation of Ninjutsu: Luke is able to take out almost the entire army of Snoke Clones by himself apparently without much difficulty, but has a unique fight scene against the final three. He even needs Rey's assistance o defeat the single final clone of Snoke.
- Cyborg: Rey is revealed to have a partially cybernetic brain.
- Dual Wielding: Luke Skywalker dual wields lightsabers to fight the army of Snoke clones.
- Heroic Sacrifice: Rose sacrifices herself to blow up the cloning facility.
- Fix Fic: Foster openly says that this version was created to fix everything he hated in The Last Jedi
- We Have Reserves: Snoke is very casual about his clones being killed, offering them up as sacrifices just to make a point and having backup clones literally waiting in the wings to take their place.
- What Measure Is a Non-Human?: Both Rey and Kylo Ren are shocked when she is revealed to be part-droid, and both question if she still fully counts as a human.
