Roleplay / Despairing Vacation

Go To

Despairing Vacation is a Roleplay based off of the Danganronpa series. As the name implies, the Despairing Vacation centers around a group of Super High School Level students and their teachers, who have found themselves trapped on an island and forced to kill each other.

Eighteen people have found themselves to be the lucky winners of a special Island vacation! Sixteen students and two teachers step off the boat, introducing each other and exploring the Island. They settle into a Hotel after finding various hot spots located within the Island, enjoying their well-stocked kitchen and the beautiful beach.

However, just as the group was becoming comfortable with their vacation, a stuffed toy by the name of Monokuma interrupts the party. Informing the group that they were not chosen for a vacation, but instead, were to participate in a "killing game". Unless one of them gets away with murder, the bear would not let them leave under any circumstances.

And thus, begins their vacation of despair...

Tropes that are featured:

  • Anyone Can Die
  • Beach Episode: It takes place on an island, do we need to spell it out for you?
  • CrossOver: You wanted Bendy from Bendy and the Ink Machine to meet Peacock from Skullgirls? Well you're in luck! We've got that and more!
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: A trope to go along with the aforementioned Executions. Each murderer gets an execution that revolves around their talent or history, making their death more despair-inducing after failing to get away with murder.
    • Goro: Hancuffed to a seat in a talk show-like setup, surrounded by what was basically an aquarium tank - drowning as the tank is filled with blood.
    • Wataru: Bound to a setup known as a Table of Death, where he briefly struggles to escape before being impaled, an unwilling assistant pulling the trigger.
    • Tougou: Chased by a stampede of mini Monobears, who begin to steal everything from his possessions to his limbs - ultimately shot to death at the end.
    • Clive: Hurdled off a fire truck into a burning Hope's Peak, nearly suffocating from the smoke inside before his body outright catches fire.
    • Bendy: Running from bombs made of acetone in a setting akin to his home, nearly jumping to safety before being caught in an explosion. The scream the survivors heard won't be forgotten.
    • Peacock: Enduring (or rather enjoying) all the executions the first four culprits went through - as given out by the culrpits 'themselves.' Her real execution comes at the end with a vehicle driven by a half-melted Bendy that ultimately crashes into a wall with a bloody mess.
  • A Student Body Divided: The class' trust is tested each and every chapter, especially when a new motive is dropped. No one knows when someone will actually FALL for any of Monokuma's incentives to kill.
  • Everyone Went to School Together: Hinted at during Chapter 1's investigation with a still image featuring some of the students being found as evidence, and outright confirmed in later chapters. Memory wipes, I tell ya.
  • Mystery of the Week: Or rather, a mystery every two weeks. Every chapter lasts two weeks, with each murder happening a week after free time events and motive drops.
  • Public Execution: Once a murderer is found, Monobear drags them off to an execution— which EVERYONE has to watch.
  • Sequel: A new Despairing Vacation is currently in the works— confirmed by the Twitter itself.
