Welcome to the SimTrack.
Test Track is a slot car thrill ride at Epcot that opened on March 17, 1999, and is the current tenant of the park's Transportation pavilion that previously housed World of Motion. It is known for being the fastest ride at any Disney theme park, with a high-speed loop outside the pavilion's building having the ride vehicles reach speeds of close to 65 miles per hour (104.6 km/h).

The original version of the ride, known as Test Track Presented by General Motors, lasted until April 15, 2012. The original premise of the ride was a demonstration of the real tests that the vehicles we drive undergo before being sold at dealerships. The riders took the role of crash test dummies and go through a gauntlet of tests. The current version, known as Test Track Presented by Chevrolet, opened on December 6, 2012, and features a new futuristic look and storyline, with guests designing their own virtual car and riding it to test it through four parameters: Power, Responsiveness, Efficiency, and Capability. A third iteration of the ride was announced at D23 2023, still sponsored by Chevrolet, which will take inspiration from World of Motion. The second iteration will close on June 17, 2024 so renovations into the third version can begin.

While the ride has not been copied in any other parks, the technology has been modified for use at Radiator Springs Racers at California Adventure and Journey to the Center of the Earth at Tokyo DisneySea.

A thorough recap of the ride experience for both iterations can be found on The Other Wiki's article on the attraction.

Test Track provides examples of the following tropes:

  • Chaotic Car Ride: Bumpy roads, high-speed turning, almost crashing into a truck… the ride doesn't make the trip leisurely!
  • Cool Car: Custom six-seat convertibles, currently called "SimCars", make up the ride vehicles.
  • Jump Scare:
    • The ride vehicle enters a tunnel… and you almost crash into a truck!
    • Played for Laughs example: The GM-sponsored version's pre-show had technician Sherrie, at the behest of host Bill McKim, show a "surprise" to guests at the end. Cue a brief video clip of a test car suddenly crashing into a barrier.
  • Production Throwback: The Chevrolet-sponsored version features the logo for World of Motion throughout the attraction. In 2019, a modernized version of that logo became the new pavilion logo.
  • Product Placement: The ride was originally sponsored by General Motors before the 2012 refurbishment. Afterward, it would become sponsored by just their Chevrolet marque. The "SimCars" of the current version also "connect" to OnStar, GM's communications, remote diagnostics, and security service.
  • Safety Freak: The In-Universe vehicle testers in the original version of the ride. Justified as cars need to be extremely safe to be on the road in the first place.
  • Tron Lines: Featured heavily in the Chevrolet-sponsored version. The ride was the closest thing Walt Disney World fans had to a TRON ride for over a decade until Tron Lightcycle / Run opened in Magic Kingdom Park in 2023.
