  • The People v. O. J. Simpson: In an attempt to make OJ look more "black" for a jury visit, Cochran deliberately tries to fill his home with socially conscious decor, with a copy of Problem among the works being hauled in.
  • Walt Disney Presents: In "Ruby Bridges", one of the times Ruby is taken up to the school has her wearing a white dress, the words "nigger" and "KKK" graffitied on the building, and a thrown tomato hitting the words.

Music

  • The music video for JAIN's "Makeba" includes an Art Imitates Art shot recreating the painting with a modern girl surrounded by four people in animal print.

Web Video

  • The French web video series A Musée Vous, A Musée Moi which makes short live-action films based on famous paintings, has three episodes based on The Problem We All Live With. In one, Ruby doesn't want to go to school and the Marshals convince her she needs to go to inspire other black kids. In another, the Marshals want to quit since they feel they don't get respect from viewers and Ruby has to convince them. In the third, one Marshal wants to take a break and get a replacement, and they argue with Ruby.
