• Hilda Bloggs from When the Wind Blows is apparently a fan. When she and her husband Jim find that the electricity supply to their cottage is cut off after the nuclear attack, she complains that she's going to "miss The Archers" and wonders if the Bomb has affected the show. ^note The couple do have a battery-operated radio which they keep on the kitchen table, but it isn't working either, most likely because it was switched on at the time of the attack and was therefore affected by the EMP (electro-magnetic pulse). However, due to a lack of understanding about how nuclear weapons work, Jim thinks it just "needs new batteries."

• In The Killing of Sister George the Series Applehurst is a clear parody of the series and the famous death of Grace Archer is believed to have inspirited the plot.

Literature

• Georg and Maurice from Shtum are addicted to the show, to Ben's annoyance and confusion, as they both spent their whole lives in major cities.

Live-Action TV

• The Goodies. In "Lips, or Almighty Cod", Graeme is running a fish farm, and is shown herding a school of fish to the theme from The Archers.
