• League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, volume 1, issue 1: Auguste Dupin helps Mina Murray and Allan Quatermain to track down and capture a killer whose methods are very similar to the orangutan from "Murders in the Rue Morgue". This time, however, the killer is Edward Hyde.

• A Study in Scarlet: In chapter 2, John Watson tells Sherlock Holmes he reminds him of Edgar Allen Poe's Dupin, and to that Sherlock replies with "He had some analytical genius, no doubt; but he was by no means such a phenomenon as Poe appeared to imagine."

• Wishbone: The episode "The Pawloined Paper" is a retelling of Purloined Letter where the dog Wishbone imagines himself in the role of Auguste Dupin.

• The Iron Maiden song "Murders in the Rue Morgue" is directly inspired by the eponymous work The Murders in the Rue Morgue.
