Takeru and Yusaku are heading to Kusanagi's place, but Shima then shows up and starts talking to Yusaku. Thus, Takeru has no choice but to go to Kusanagi by himself. Takeru asks Kusanagi about how he met Yusaku.

- Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy: The Knight of Hanoi dueling Unknown scoffs at him for Summoning multiple Monsters which don't boast higher ATK than the 2200 ATK "Jack Wyvern". Unknown pays him no mind, however, and uses his Monsters to Link Summon the 2600 ATK "Gaia Saber", to the Knight of Hanoi's surprise.
- Big Damn Heroes: Unknown (Yusaku) does this to Shoichi twice in LINK VRAINS, both times saving him from the Knights of Hanoi. Shoichi returns the favor when Unknown gets cornered by the Knights of Hanoi.
- Big Brother Instinct: The first thing Shoichi does after discovering his younger brother Jin got traumatized? Start studying programming to become a hacker and find the people responsible.
- Continuity Nod: When Unknown Link Summons "Gaia Saber, the Lightning Shadow". The old Link Summoning animation is used, but without the jump to another world part, highlighting that this came from before the animation change.
- One-Hit Kill: Unknown depletes all of the Knight of Hanoi's LP in one go by doubling "Gaia Saber's" ATK via "Limiter Removal" to 5200 and destroying the 1000 ATK "Jack Wyvern" by battle.
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Unknown (Yusaku) leaves after knowing that the mooks don't know anything about the Lost Incident. It was almost defied, because the mooks manage to corner him, but Shoichi's intervention allows him to escape.
- Vocal Evolution: An inverted offscreen example. When you hear Unknown or rather Yusaku's voice, it's noticeably softer or with less strength or confidence compared to the present highlighting that he's recently started his battle against the Knights of Hanoi.
- Wham Line: In-Universe, when Yusaku gets his hotdog during his first real life meeting with Shoichi he says this:Yusaku Fujiki: Thank you, Unnamed.
- Whole Episode Flashback: Half of the episode is a flashback about how Kusanagi and Yusaku started working together.
