Recap / Yu Gi Oh SEVENS Ep 12 The Forbidden Ace

Go To

Yuga and Roa face off in the final best-of-three duel between Yuga's party and RoaRomin, with ownership of Rush Duels on the line.

This episode contains the following tropes:

  • Cliffhanger: Roa's mill strategy forces Yuga to draw Sevens Road Magician at the very end of the episode, meaning he'll be disqualified if the situation doesn't change.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Rather than duel Yuga fairly, Roa questions the legality of Sevens Road Magician and tries to get Yuga disqualified on the basis of using it. He even has his deck set up to force Yuga to draw it when Master Goha intervenes with a ruling to keep the duel going so long as Yuga doesn't draw it.
  • Disqualification-Induced Victory: Roa tries to invoke this by getting Sevens Road Magician declared as an illegal card so Yuga will be disqualified the moment he draws it.
  • It's All About Me: Roa duels Yuga with ownership of "Rush Duels" on the line, with the selfish intent of renaming it to "RoaRush Duel".
  • Villainous Rescue: During the duel, the legality of Sevens Road Magician comes up, and Roa's fans slam the company with questioning it to force Yuga to forfeit. Master Goha calls Mimi with a second rule that at least lets Yuga continue the duel so long as he doesn't draw the card. His reasons for doing so are unknown.
  • Wham Shot: Roa plays an archival recording of a tournament that Hologram Man attended, in the flesh. He tried to play Sevens Road Magician and was immediately disqualified. This is where Yuga got the card from.
