• Defeat Means Friendship: After losing to Jaden, Aster becomes an ally, and his interactions with Jaden and the rest of the heroes changes.
• Hoist by His Own Petard: Aster equips his Dogma with a Heavy Storm Blade spell card to destroy all other spell and traps and reduce Flare Neos' attack points. This works against him when one of Jaden's cards was Spell Calling, allowing him to place two face down cards allowing Flare Neos to defeat Dogma and take out the rest of Aster's life points.
• Spanner in the Works: Due to Chazz's comments in the previous episode revealing the Society of Light, and Sartorius as its leader, Aster begins to figure out Sartorius has a secret agenda and his interest in Jaden was due to him holding the power to threaten his plans.
• Viewer Species Confusion: In-Universe. Syrus mistakes Air Hummingbird for a woodpecker.
• What Have I Become?: After Jaden reminds Aster that dueling is about having fun and making friends, and that's the whole reason Aster's dad started designing cards in the first place, Aster has a moment of self-reflection.
  Aster: Jaden's right. My father created the Destiny Heroes to make me happy. What would he think of me now? Maybe that's what's wrong with me. Every time I use my Destiny Heroes, all I feel is pain. What happened to me?
