Go To

"A Roulette Wheel and a Piano-Playing Dog" is an episode of Young Sheldon that first aired February 22, 2024. According to TV Guide,

Sheldon realizes he is the weakest student in his class; Meemaw is looking to expand her gambling business.
The sneak peeks show:
  • Sheldon's tutor (who is the same age as Sheldon) shows up, and Sheldon is not happy. He wants to go home, but Mary brushes it off.
  • Connie shows Georgie the new roulette wheel, and says that it can bring in up to $1,000 per day.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Always Someone Better: At Heidelberg, Sheldon is no longer the most advanced student, and the other students mock him, with even the teacher calling him a dummkopf. For further humiliation, he’s given a tutor who is no older than he is, and who is also more accomplished besides.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Professor Salzman bluntly, but rightly, tells Sheldon that he needs to stop coasting on his young age as proof of his genius and start contributing to the class at the level that's expected of someone who was admitted to it.
Professor Salzman: Sheldon, at some point we ask of the piano-playing dog not "Are you a dog?", but "Are you any good at playing the piano?"
  • Rural Gangsters: Connie decides to expand her gambling business by introducing a Roulette wheel. However, following Herman (the roulette wheel operator) telling Georgie about how it previously gotten him into trouble with the "Dixie Mafia", it leads to him having a nightmare of them arriving to them to shakedown the Casino.
  • Woken Up at an Ungodly Hour: Sheldon calls Dr. Linkletter, but due to the time difference, he wakes him up at 3:00 AM. Sheldon theorizes this is why Dr. Sturgis didn’t answer the phone when he called him earlier.
