Go To

"A Frat Party, a Sleepover and the Mother of All Blisters" is an episode of Young Sheldon that first aired on February 16, 2023.

Sheldon finds Paige (Mckenna Grace) at a party in the university dorm room next to his. In addition to the loud music, there's underage drinking going on, and not just by Paige. By now, Paige is feeling hungry, so she gets Sheldon, who has $21.00 cash on him, to take her to Del Bono's for pizza.

Then they go to the ΓΚΞ (Gamma Kappa Xi) house for another party, where Sheldon loses track of Paige but is surprised to find Missy there, dressed like a college student. Missy was supposed to be at Heather's house for a sleepover. Later, Missy and Sheldon find Paige about to go somewhere alone with some young man. Missy reveals that Paige is not even 16-years-old, causing the young man to flee.

Paige is annoyed, but by this point, she's too drunk to do too much other than lay down and sleep it off. Missy does get Paige to talk a little bit about her situation: despite being even more of a genius than Sheldon (an assessment Sheldon of course disagrees with), Paige is unhappy, and drinks to forget her troubles.

Missy has Sheldon take Paige to his dorm room. Paige will sleep on Sheldon's bed and Sheldon will sleep on the floor.

George Sr. takes a phone call from Heather's mom. Supposedly, Heather is having a sleepover with Missy at the Cooper home, but that's clearly not the case: George thought Missy was the one having the sleepover at Heather's family's house. George Sr. and Georgie go drive around to look for Missy, but they go nowhere near the ΓΚΞ house.

Meanwhile, Dale (Craig T. Nelson) is hanging out at Connie's house with Connie, watching Dinosaurs, a show Connie does not particularly like. Then Mandy (Emily Osment) comes in with a copy of Tootsie from the video store, Connie would much rather watch that instead. Mandy goes to the Cooper home.

A discussion of cross-dressing — how come no one realizes that woman is actually Dustin Hoffman? — leads Connie and Dale to consider the idea of Dale putting on women's clothes. They retire to the bedroom.

But then Dale is afflicted by one of those common ailments of old age, putting the kibosh on any experimentation that night. Mandy comes back from the Cooper home to retrieve her toothbrush, but is put off by hearing what she misunderstands as Connie and Dale having sex.

The next morning, Missy shows up at the Cooper home like nothing happened last night. George and Mary hold off on yelling at her for a minute or two.

Tropes

  • Everyone Knows Morse: Averted. Sheldon tries to bang "QUIET" in Morse code to get the music in the dorm next door to stop, to no avail. Someone bangs back, which Sheldon thinks is Morse code for the letter H over and over.
  • Musicalis Interruptus: Missy can't hear Sheldon over the loud music at the frat party, so Sheldon unplugs the stereo. This gets them both thrown out.
  • One-Steve Limit: In "A Lot of Band-Aids and the Cooper Surrender", an episode from Season 5, we learned of Missy's classmates Heather M. and Heather B. But now in Season 6, Missy just refers to "Heather", without any explanation as to whether that's either Heather M. or Heather B. or some new girl.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Discussed. While watching Tootsie, Dale can't believe no one in the film has noticed that the title character is just Dustin Hoffman in a dress.
  • Previously on…: We're reminded a little bit of Paige's back story.
  • Right on Queue: Sheldon wants to use the bathroom at the frat house, but he finds that there's a line. He is forced to pee outside.
  • Shout-Out:
    • To Pee-wee Herman: Used as a nickname for Sheldon at the ΓΚΞ house. Sheldon takes it as an insult.
