Operation Saviour is about to launch: it is the last day of work before a rocket filled with explosives leaves the Earth. It is planned that it will reach the comet in a week's time and hopefully knock it off its course, so that it misses the Earth.
Separated from Arnold, Scotty is barely able to function. Things get worse when Tess arrests him for helping Rhonda. While jailed, a joke from his cellmate reminds him of a potential bug in the code of Operation Saviour, and with Tess unwilling to let him contact anyone unless he gives up his own sister, he has no other choice than to do just that. Rhonda, who had been preparing to go to Rajesh's hospital incognito, gets caught by the police moments after seeing her husband's face. The rocket is launched, but Scotty does not care. After Tess finally gets her hands on Rhonda, the latter is suddenly taken away by the army.
Jamie and Dave manage to track down Hawkwind and her daughter, whose name is revealed to be Frankie, in Suffolk. While Dave watches over Frankie, Hawkwind tells Jamie the truth about Ariel, jealous of the praise Mary always had for him, hacking everything in his life to keep him down, including creating a fake girlfriend for him, "Layla", and even though Hawkwind did eventually fall in love with Jamie, she had to disappear after Ariel started threatening her. Coming back to Hawkwind's after a night spent talking, she and Jamie discover Frankie gone and Dave badly hurt and missing his right eye, courtesy of Ariel. Ariel calls Mrs Sutton and says he is not going to give her Frankie on her terms.
In Malta, Father Jude and Sister Celine investigate a cult that sends people to an island they call paradise, from which no one has ever returned, led by someone by the name of Ruthless. Before they can go to the island and meet the potential messiah, they have to get married and kiss on public. On the island itself they discover that the "messiah" is actually a couple, Arless and Ruth, who promote free and uninhibited love. Jude and Celine run off, but fail to catch the last ferry back. With a night to spend, between the fireworks in honor of the Saviour's launch, and Celine witnessing a sign foretold by Frankie back in Poland, they profess their love for each other and end up sleeping together.
The You, Me and the Apocalypse episode "T Minus... - 14 Days to Go" provides examples of:
