Tropes
- Babies Make Everything Better: Rhea really wants to have a baby with Joxer.
- Eager Rookie: Eris. She strives to prove herself with a series of kicks and flips... with success for the most part. Xena makes good use to that by making her do the chores.
- Good Old Ways: At Gabrielle's suggestion, Cyane begins insisting that everyone follow the old ways of the Amazons.
- Hoist by Their Own Petard: Gabrielle was the one to suggest the Amazons begin honoring the old ways again, and, as Queen, is the one dealing with the most annoying parts of the old ways, like being summoned with a ram's horn very early in the morning, or having to cover herself in mud and howl at the full moon all night as part of a ritual.
- I Take Offence to That Last One: When a group of Amazon children call him a fat, creepy loser, the only thing Joxer cares to correct them on is that he's not fat.
- Lima Syndrome: Rhea falls for Joxer hard.
- Not Even Bothering with the Accent: The Amazon children who mock Joxer all speak in noticable Kiwi accents, despite the rest of the local actors adopting American accents.
- The Peeping Tom: Joxer was caught peeping on some bathing Amazons.
- Potty Emergency: After being locked in the stocks, Joxer has to go to the "little warrior's room", but his attempts to talk Eris into helping him only gets him slapped and ignored.
- Pressure Point: The most Xena has ever placed on someone.
- Revival Loophole: How Joxer ultimately gets out of his punishment. In a fight to the death, Xena stops his heart with Pressure Points. Once it was confirmed he was dead, she used them again to revive him, getting him out of the punishment.
- Shout-Out: Gabrielle doles out some of Moe's favorite punishments on Joxer after getting annoyed with him.
- Spit Take: Joxer spits out the dipper of water Rhea gives him after she asks him if he'll have a baby with her.
- Stock Punishment: Joxer for much of the episode.
- Waking Non Sequitur: Gabrielle falls asleep on her throne after an early morning summons to begin Joxer's sentancing. When she's woken up, she blurts out "Not tonight," to the confusion of the Amazons.
- Wrestler in All of Us: Xena and Joxer fight to the death... in a wrestling ring complete with wrestling moves done by both.
