Episode 59: Do-Over

Takes place August 13-15.

This is an entirely Renegade episode. The Renegade launches simultaneous assaults on the gordanians on Karna, and the Wombworld, causing massive casualties to both, then kills Larfleeze and retrieves the Orange Light Fountain, which he persuades the Controllers to encase in a proper battery housing. He then places it on Tamaran, recruits two hundred Tamaranians who hate the Citadel Empire, and takes them to wreck and loot the Citadel shipyards. The First Citadelian attacks him and heavily damages his yellow ring, but the Renegade is able to knock him out and deliver him to Tamaran for public execution.

The title refers to the Renegade making a second attempt to go to Vega, after Darkseid interrupted his previous plan.

  • Children Are Innocent: Or, at least, pre-indoctrination Psion children are sufficiently redeemable that the Renegade decides to let them live when he exterminates all the adults.
  • Exact Words: The Psions make the Renegade an offer: if he kills himself rather than continue his assault, they'll ensure that the Genomorph he brought along survives indefinitely. That is to say, they'll put it back together after each time they dissect it.
  • Intelligible Unintelligible: The Renegade trying to persuade the New Genesphere not to come to Vega.
    Sphere: Beep rev chirp.
Renegade: Now… Come on. The only reason-.
    Sphere: Beep.
Renegade: I did not. I was simply aware of her particular skill-.
    Sphere: Rev rev.
Renegade: Fine! Fine. You can come, but it's a planet full of DeSaad fanclones. Hold me back and I will laugh in your… Front.. blob… Thing.
    Sphere: Beep.
Renegade: Really? Oh, that's actually helpful. Okay, we're assembling in the embarkation room-.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: The Renegade is...direct, when approaching the Controllers to have the Orange Light Fountain encased in a proper battery housing.
Ghiata: Grayven, you are being you again.
  • Just Shoot Him: The Renegade simply teleported into Larfleeze's cave and beheaded him with the Sword of the Fallen. Off-screen.
  • Mind over Matter: The First Citadelian has hijacked Adam Blake's telekinesis and uses it to fight the Renegade when he assaults the Citadel. The Renegade hasn't been injured that badly since he was nuked.
  • Morality Pet: The Renegade has several, but tries to leave them behind when he goes to violently cleanse the Vega Systems. No such luck; they're coming too.
  • The Power of the Sun: Sunset Shimmer was able to magically enhance the techno-seed that the Renegade recovered, so it can draw power directly from a star instead of needing a portable power source. This enables the resulting plasma servitor to grow far larger and become harder to disrupt, allowing it to wreak havoc on the Psions.
