Episode 143: Reconstruction

Takes place 18 February-10 March 2013.

With the Earth now free of the Anti-Life, the heroes now have to start the process of fixing the world.

The Renegade works on getting the siblings of his adoptive kids out of Hell.

  • Alternate Universe: We see Peter Wynne during the time of Batman Beyond. He's forced to travel to Gotham in order to combat a law that is being pushed by Gotham's DA, who also happens to be Barbara Gordon's husband.
  • Deal with the Devil: The Renegade makes one with the First of the Fallen. However, due to the First respecting the Renegade and the fact that the Renegade is Genre Savvy, it's a fair deal (as much as one made in Hell can be fair).
  • Death Is Cheap: Downplayed. Paul uses a Lazarus Pit to revive all of Tisiphone's victims.
  • Demonic Possession: Fury is possessed by Tisiphone, one of the Furies, with the latter going around killing as many members of the Alliance as possible.
  • Idealist vs. Pragmatist: Superman reaches out to Green Arrow and OL for advice on how to improve the world, as they give idealistic and pragmatic answers/solutions respectively. This way, Superman can have as clear a picture as to what the right thing to do should be.
  • Let's You and Him Fight:
    • One of the Sanderan Empire's military leaders frowns at the idea of handing over enchanted objects so the Japanese can study magic. However, Prince Diabo points out that the Empire doesn't need to concern itself with what Japan achieves and builds as a result.
Diabo: That is a problem for their neighbours on their world.
    • Japan, in turn, doesn't care about giving the Empire books describing the basis of firearms, because it will be years before they can make even the simplest of guns practical, by which time the gate will be long closed and they won't be Japan's problem.
  • Papa Wolf: The Renegade goes for the kill once he learns that his hybrid children's biological mother planned on using her offspring as pawns.
  • Shout-Out: In response to Kid Flash's skepticism of Luthor's honesty when it comes to helping the Justice League with their reconstruction efforts, Paul quotes the Kingpin.
Paul: 'There is no profit in the end of the world.'
    KF: What's that quote from?
Paul: Spider-Man. A guy with the ability to make portals lets one get out of control to the point where it threatens to suck the entire planet through. Once he realises what's happening, the main supervillain of the story stops trying to blackmail him and starts offering him the use of his resources at no cost. When he asks 'why', the supervillain explains by saying 'There is no profit in the end of the world'.
KF: I wish real supervillains said stuff like that.
  • Stealth Hi/Bye: Peter is annoyed when the new Batman proves he's been learning from Bruce by doing this to him.
