A recap of the Wife of the Wolf, Husband of the Sun fanfic.
Chapter 1:
- In Dorne, at the Water Gardens. Elia watches her neices and nephew at play before a servant summons her to attened her brothers Prince Oberyn Martell and Prince Doran Martell. Oberyn is enraged about the engagement between Elia Martell and Rhaegar Targaryen being called off, Doran plans for her to wed Eddard Stark. Elia accepts it gracefully, but when she returns to her bedchameber she weeps.
Chapter 2:
- In Winterfell, Ned Stark is listening to Brandon Stark and Lyanna Stark complaining about their betrothals. Ned snaps at them and tells them to stop whining as the both of them won't be married for a while, while Ned is to marry Elia as soon as she arrives.
Chapter 3:
- Elia recalls the various marriage prospects that came her way, particularly the trip to Casterly Rock where she, her mother and Oberyn visited for a prospective arrangement in the wake of Joanna Lannister’s death after giving birth to her son Tyrion, and her and Oberyn’s disappointment with finding out that Tyrion wasn’t as much of a monster as everyone said he was. Ashara Dayne arrives at Sunspear to serve as Elia’s Lady-In-Waiting, accompanied by her daughter Lauryn.
Chapter 4:
- Ned talks with his father Lord Rickard and asks whether or not he has to marry Elia Martell, with Rickard responding that yes, he has to. He informs Ned that Robert Baratheon and Catelyn and Lysa Tully will also be attending the wedding.
- Rhaegar Targaryen listens to his father King Aerys II Targaryen raping Queen Rhaella behind a closed door. Rhaella exits a few moments later and is greeted by Rhaegar and her younger son Viserys. We learn that Rhaegar is plotting with Tywin Lannister to remove the King.
