Recap / We Bare Bears S 4 E 42 Tabes And Charlie

Go To

Tabes and Charlie team up to find Tabes' missing dog, Kirk.

Tropes:

  • Accidental Misnaming: Charlie repeatedly mispronounces Tabes's name. He finally gets it right at the end of the episode, but he then calls Kirk "Cork".
  • Comically Small Bribe: Tabes has a 100-dollar bill, an uncut sapphire, and a small jar of peanut butter. The possum gives information just for the peanut butter...but only shows her where Kirk is for the bill.
  • Compromising Call: Tabes' phone rings while they are sneaking into the wolves' den. She hangs up before the wolves wake up, not knowing it was the Bears calling about the ranger station being on fire.
  • Continuity Nod: The wolf pack that Tabes and Charlie encounter is the same one from "Brother Up", as shown by the leader still having a bandaged eye.
  • A Day in the Limelight: As the title suggests, this episode focuses on Tabes and Charlie, and is the first time they properly interact and mainly focuses on their growing friendship while finding Kirk together, while the bears have a more minor role.
  • Don't Wake the Sleeper: When Tabes and Charlie sneak into the wolves' cave while they're asleep, Tabes' phone goes off as the Bears are calling. Fortunately, the wolves don't react to this. Charlie sneezing, on the other hand...
  • Epic Fail: Somehow, the Bears burn the ranger station down trying to make copies of a map.
  • Goofy Suit: In order to not raise suspicion while asking the forest animals at the Cracked Nut about Kirk, Tabes has to wear a chicken suit Charlie took out of the trash.
  • Ill-Timed Sneeze: Although Tabes' phone doesn't wake the wolves up, Charlie's sneezing does.
  • Noble Wolf: The wolves from "Brother Up" return, but stop attacking Tabes and Charlie when they find out they know Kirk, who had puppies with the alpha wolf's daughter.
  • Playing Possum: Tabes finds a possum wearing Kirk's bandana and tries to interrogate her, so she plays dead. Charlie has to bribe her with peanut butter to get her to talk.
  • Plot-Relevant Age-Up: Kirk is an adult starting in this episode, and the reason for the plot is that he has recently become a father to three wolf-hybrid puppies.
  • Smelly Skunk: While interrogating animals for Kirk's location, Tabes gets in the face of a skunk. Charlie manages to get her away from it before it opened fire. However, the fox next to it wasn't so lucky.
  • Tears of Fear: When Tabes and Charlie get pinned down by the wolves, the former tries to Face Death with Dignity before shedding these when she begs them to know what happened to Kirk. Fortunately, the alpha stands down when he realizes Kirk belonged to Tabes and welcomes her and Charlie before obliging as the pack calls for Kirk to come out.
  • Worthless Yellow Rocks: Charlie asks for something to bribe the possum for information. Tabes takes out the contents of her pockets: a $100 bill, an uncut sapphire, and a jar of peanut butter. The peanut butter works. Subverted later when the possum asks for the $100 for additional information.
