The Bird Scene

Before Tori can participate in any play whatsoever at Hollywood Arts, Sikowitz challenges her to master a monologue called "The Bird Scene", but no matter how she tries, she doesn't seem to get it right...or does she?

Meanwhile, Andre and Robbie join a ballet class to meet girls with disastrous results.

Tropes:

  • Disproportionate Retribution: Downplayed. The only reason Tori kept failing the Bird Scene was that she kept asking if she got it right.
  • Incomprehensible Entrance Exam: At Hollywood Arts, in order to audition for plays, students must perform "The Bird Scene". Tori performs this scene, asking her teacher if she's passed each time, to which he tells her no. Eventually she gets frustrated and says that she feels she did a good job. Her teacher then tells her she passed. He tells her that the purpose of the test is to see if the student trusts their artistic instincts and all one has to do to pass is to be confident in their performance.
  • Rule of Three: It took Tori three tries to pass the Bird Scene.
  • Secret Test of Character: The point of the Bird Scene was to believe in your own acting talent instead of questioning it.
  • Sleeps with Everyone but You: A variation: Cat is annoyed with Rex hitting on every girl at Hollywood Arts, but takes even more offense when Rex points out he's never hit on her.
Cat: Urgh, it's so gross how he's always hitting on every girl.
Rex: I never hit on you.
  • Title Drop: Tori's last status update reads: "Finally, I am...VICTORIOUS!"
