Recap / Ultraman Z Ep 1: I Ask That You Chant My Name!

Go To

Haruki Natsukawa is a pilot for Global Allied Forces Japan’s robot unit, STORAGE. As he fights day and night to keep the peace on Earth, a new Ultra Hero alights before him! That hero’s name is Ultraman Z. He’s a hot-blooded hero who introduces himself as the disciple of Ultraman Zero. In the face of the Ferocious Space Shark Genegarg’s onslaught, the two imperiled heroes become one, and the story of Ultraman Z begins!

  • Collateral Damage: Despite being established that STORAGE uses robots to take care of monster attacks, its clearly shown here that doing so is not without avoiding collateral damages. Sure enough, the group is to be blamed for and they were forced to cut off further development of new robots to compensate for the damages, especially when the destroyed building happens to be a historical location at that.
  • Foreshadowing: Whoever is holding Tiga, Dyna, and Gaia's medals is probably a member of STORAGE. Take a quick guess who is actually holding the medals seven episodes later.
  • How Do I Shot Web?: Given their rocky start, this is how Haruki first transformed into Ultraman Z Alpha Edge, even after raising the Ultra Z Riser, Z instructs him to pull the trigger.
  • I Need to Go Iron My Dog: Hebikura responds to Genegarg's destruction by going to the toilet.
  • Jump Scare: Celebro did this as its Establishing Character Moment when he jumps into Kaburagi a la facehugger and possess him.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Haruki saves a puppy during a fight between Sevenger and Gomess, at the expense of the robot tripping off the ground. Yoko is very pissed...
  • Wham Shot:
    • Following Genegarg's destruction, a mysterious observer apparently salvaged the medals of Ultraman Tiga, Ultraman Dyna, and Ultraman Gaia. See Foreshadowing above.
    • An alien lifeform possesses a Monster Research Center member named Shinya Kaburagi, and at the same time is in possession of another Ultra Z Riser, and a Devil Splinter.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: The entire team get a mouthful from Director Kuriyama following Haruki's aforementioned blunder earlier.
