Tropes

  • Arms Dealer: The Quintessons are revealed to be war profiteers who profit off of supplying armaments to other worlds. They supply weapons to both Xetaxxis and Lenarq, which escalates the war between the two planets and maximizes their profits.
  • Bittersweet Ending: The Autobots succeed in negotiating peace between Xetaxxis and Lenarq, and prevent the Quintessons from destroying both worlds. However, the two planets still hate each other and no amount of peace will repair the damage they've done to the other side. Rodimus surmises the Quintessons were the only real winners in the war.
  • The Guards Must Be Crazy: The Quintessons apparently didn't confiscate anything from Blaster or Outback before taking them prisoner. Outback convinces a Sharkticon guard to unlock their cell by bribing him with an energon cube, while Blaster shoots him with his blaster.
Blaster: Was that as easy as I thought it was?
  • Peace Conference: Rodimus and Spike host a peace conference between Xetaxxis and Lenarq, and try to negotiate a peace treaty between the two worlds. It goes very poorly, as the delegates from both sides seem more concerned with trying to kill each other than discussing an end to the war.
  • Percussive Maintenance: The Decepticons try to activate the Quintesson journal, but can't find a way to turn it on. Enraged, Galvatron tosses the journal against a rock, which causes it to turn on and play back the journal entries.
  • Playing Both Sides: The Quintessons have been secretly supplying weapons to both Xetaxxis and Lenarq with the goal of squeezing as much profit from both sides before they inevitably destroy each other.
  • Vine Tentacles: Blaster and Outback are attacked by a series of vines that reach out and wrap around the two. Steeljaw is able to free Outback by biting the vines in half, and Outback shoots at the vines to free Blaster.
  • War for Fun and Profit: The Quintessons have been busy escalating conflicts on other worlds by supplying them weapons and reaping the benefits as the worlds destroy each other. The journal also details moments when they supplied faulty equipment that allowed them to take over the economies of other planets.
Lenarqan: We have endured these horrors so the Quintessons could profit!
