Go To

Optimus sends Bumblebee on a secret mission to scout out a hidden area in G.H.O.S.T.'s headquarters. When the Maltos hear of this, they naturally tag along, against their teacher's wishes.

Tropes:

  • Call-Back:
    • Nightshade lends Bumblebee both the hologram emitter for camouflage and the smart trainer to circumvent the security system in G.H.O.S.T.'s headquarters.
    • Bumblebee infiltrates G.H.O.S.T.'s headquarters through the tunnel near the ranger station that Swindle laid open in "Disarmed", while the Maltos use the secret elevator within the ranger station that was first seen in "Classified".
  • Continuity Nod: Megatron argues with Croft over not being allowed to handle Starscream his way in "What Dwells Within".
  • Cliffhanger: The episode ends with Robby, Nightshade, Twitch and Thrash stranded in some unkown location due to the space bridge going on the frizz. Just as Robby wonders where they ended up, the group is confronted by Shockwave, wearing one of Mandroid's control badges.
  • He Knows Too Much: After Croft catches Bumblebee at her secret space bridge construction site, she attempts to silence him permanently via her Ghoids. The Maltos' and Schloder's timely arrival luckily throw a wrench in that plan.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Bumlebee and Schloder end up captured by Croft and her Ghoids in their attempt to safely evacuate the Terrans and the kids through the space bridge.
  • Hidden Disdain Reveal:
    • Inverted with Agent Schloder. When Robby tells him Bumblebee's reasoning for infiltrating G.H.O.S.T. must be sound because Bumblebee is always on the side of good, Schloder wholeheartedly agrees, revealing that he never believed Bumblebee went rogue in the first place and that he himself only pursued Bumblebee to team up with him.
    • Played straight with executive agent Croft, who this episode reveals to have a violent hatred toward all Cybertronians, not just Decepticons, and who wants to invade Cybertron to destroy their kind for good.
  • Internal Reveal: Robby finds out Schloder and Croft are related after Schloder makes an off-hand comment about it. Something the viewers have known since "Hashtag, Oops", where Schloder and Croft referred to each other as sister and brother respectively.
  • Robotic Reveal: After Bumblebee knocks off the helmet of the G.H.O.S.T. agent Croft sent to attack him, the "agent" is revealed to have an Arachnamech-like head. Soon after Croft reveals that her forces consist entirely of "Ghoids", androids in G.H.O.S.T. armor who follow only her command.
  • Sickening "Crunch!": The Ghoids make disturbing cracking noises when they move, like they're breaking all of their bones just to get up.
  • Wham Episode: G.H.O.S.T.'s secret project is revealed to be a space bridge under construction, which they want to use to invade Cybertron and eradicate all Cybertronians. Also, most of G.H.O.S.T.'s agents have been replaced by androids who only follow Croft's orders and seem to be based on Mandroid's Arachnamechs.
  • What the Hell Are You?: Said almost verbatim by Bumblebee, after a seemingly normal G.H.O.S.T. agent effortlessly blocks his punch with their bare hands.
  • With Us or Against Us: Karen tells Jon this when he begs her to stop the Ghoids from attacking the Terrans and the Malto kids.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Karen doesn't care one bit that two of the "Cybertronians" her Ghoids are attacking are human children. Even when Jon directly tells her that kids are present and could get hurt, Karen only replies that any human siding with a Cybertronian is basically a Cybertronian themself and should be treated like one.
