Recap / Totally Spies S 1 E 1 A Thing For Musicians

This episode provides examples of:

  • All Women Are Lustful: Sam claims that Clover falls in love more frequently than Mandy maxes out her credit card—and Clover goes after practically every single hot guy she sees.
  • Brainless Beauty:
    • Ricky is a male version of this, as he was completely oblivious to the fact that his boss had been using his music to take over the world and apparently even needs Alex to repeat it to him.
    • The boy that Clover and Mandy were both after doesn't seem to be the sharpest knife in the drawer, seems to be easily gullible and flaky, which may be part of the reason Clover rejects him in the end.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Ricky's music makes his listeners (including Clover) lose their senses and start obsessing over him.
  • Early Instalment Weirdness:
    • The title card for this episode is different from any of the later ones,
    • Mandy has an Evil Sounds Deep voice, as opposed to the more familiar shrill voice that defined her character.
    • Compared to the majority of subplots from the LA-dubbed seasons, the subplot for this episode receives a decent amount of screen time.
  • Evil Diva: Ricky averts this as it was his boss who was using his music for evil without his knowledge.
  • Good Cannot Comprehend Evil: Though it could be credited to obliviousness, one could say this was Ricky's reaction when he learned his boss was using his music to take over the world. He's so devastated by this discovery that Alex has to repeat it to him.
  • Lovable Alpha Bitch: Clover's just as boy-crazy as her rival, Mandy, but is a whole lot nicer by comparison.
  • Ms. Red Ink: As noted above, Sam claims that Mandy maxes out her credit less frequently than Clover falls in love...and Clover goes after practically every hot guy she sees.
