GOD IS COMING

It starts normally enough: a car park full of ramblers is incinerated by a thunderbolt. But the next day it's clear there's something very wrong. Something's changed. Something's coming. It's the end of the world. And that's whatTorchwood are best at...

Tropes:

  • Wham Episode: Ng is revealed. Colchester dies. God arrives in Cardiff, and the Sorvix insist that it is the end of the world. GWEN LEAVES TORCHWOOD. Holy fucking shit.
  • Made of Iron: Colchester as per usual. It takes a long time for him to die.
  • Grand Finale: To series five. Although to be honest, it leaves a LOT open for series six.
  • But Now I Must Go: Gwen Cooper gives a speech that is, in a way, not just her departure speech, but Eve Myles's too. Although Eve Myles does stay on for the Main Range Audios, the finality is palpable.
  • Back for the Finale: Gwen Bloody Cooper.
  • Will They or Won't They?: Well, Jack and Gwen had that thing in "Love Rat", so what's going to happen? Will they? No. Gwen is angry at what Ng did with her and her body, and it's one of the reasons she leaves. For good.
  • God of Evil: God is coming to Cardiff, and both the Sorvix and Ng insist it's the end of the world. As revealed later in "Night Watch", God is actually a sweet old lady, so this is actually inaccurate, but it's the impression presented here.
  • Assimilation Plot: The decisive end to the series-long one. Thank God.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Gwen's breaking point occurs when she realizes how Ng has destroyed her life. She leaves.
  • The End of the World as We Know It: Yes and no.
  • Gaia's Vengeance: God's arrival is first shown by the vaporization of a car park by lightning. Environment is the main threat for the beginning of the story, at least.
