Dick finally reveals the truth to the team and, in flashback, we learn the secret behind Deathstroke’s vendetta against the Titans. After the murder of Garth/Aqualad, Dick, Donna, Dawn and Hank befriend Jericho Wilson, Deathstroke’s son. Realizing that Slade’s devotion to his son might be Deathstroke’s only weakness, Dick is eager to use the information against his nemesis. But as the Titans’ friendship with Jericho grows, and he’s taken into the fold, Dick is forced to choose between loyalty and revenge.

Tropes featured in the episode:

  • Broken Pedestal:
    • Jericho's admiration for his father is shaken when he finds out he's a Professional Killer.
    • Hank, Dawn and Donna are furious at Dick for everything that happened with Jericho, so they disband the Titans and leave.
  • Call-Forward:
    • Hank is very furious at Dick in the final scene, alluding to his antagonism towards him in his introduction.
    • In the same scene, Donna tells Dick she'll be in New York if he needs her. She was introduced when Dick, Kory, Gar, and Rachel went to New York after finding Angela back in Season 1.
  • Calling the Old Man Out: Jericho is furious at both his parents. His father for being a Professional Killer, and his mother for having him Locked Out of the Loop regarding the former.
  • A Death in the Limelight: Jericho's backstory is fully revealed in the episode, which ends with his death.
  • Downer Ending: Jillian and Jericho are killed, Deathstroke gets away and the OG Titans go their separate ways.
  • Evil Parents Want Good Kids: A lot of focus is given towards Slade wanting to have Jericho live a normal life.
  • Female Gaze: Hank shows off his six-pack.
  • Flipping the Bird: Jericho's response to Wintergreen when the latter told him he doesn't know any sign language.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Just as Slade is about to stab Dick to death, his son gets in the way, killing him.
  • The Reveal:
    • Turns out Jillian was Slade's actual target the night Garth was killed.
    • The also episode shows what happened with Jericho and why the original Titans disbanded.
  • Secondary Character Title: Jericho, who is a Posthumous Character in present day.
  • Slashed Throat: The reason Jericho becomes mute.
  • The Unreveal: Despite the flashbacks showing his Origin Story, how Slade loses his eye is never shown or mentioned.
