Mumm-Ra tricks Lion-O and Tygra into fighting each other, which breaks the Sword of Omens. Lion-O goes on a suicidal quest to repair it. Meanwhile, the others find gold and dismiss it as useless, but find it may be the only chance to repair the sword.
Tropes:
- Foreshadowing: The depowered, unassuming Enflamer's throne is huge.
- Master Actor: Mumm-Ra very convincingly plays the part of a troubled but upbeat seeker of help. Charming Lion-O with a witty sense of humor, and seamlessly maintaining it through Snarf's irritable comments. The viewer isn't really given any clue that anything is off.
- Not-So-Harmless Villain: The Mutants attack and disable the Enflamer off-screen, a being who later proved to be a deadly threat to the Thundercats.
- Rage Quit: The Enflamer furiously blows up the whole volcano because the Thundercats dared to reclaim their own sword from him. Having his hand shocked as the sword broke free of his grasp probably didn't help.
- Worthless Yellow Rocks: The Thundercats other than Cheetara dismiss gold as useless until it's revealed to be the only thing that can restore the powers of the only one who can repair the Sword of Omens.
