Tropes for this episode include:

  • Chekhov's Gun: The boombox that Krel accidentally sent back to Akiridion-5 proves to be useful when the resistance use it to cause a distraction.
  • Continuity Nod: Detective Scott still believes that the play that Barbara and the other parents played to fool him is a genuine play called "Troll-fighters", which he performs during his audition. Toby is understandably not so amused by it.
  • Deal with the Devil: Sergeant Costas expresses his fear that the arrangement with General Morando will end up like this.
  • Not So Above It All: Detective Scott, Mrs. Janeth, and Senor Uhl auditioned together in Toby's movie which shows that despite their roles in the series, they have fun together and partake the audition.
  • Our Wormholes Are Different: Enough that they can be triggered by Luug's digestive system and remain relatively stable.
  • Terrible Interviewees Montage: During the casting for Toby's movie, there are many interviewees who are either too eccentric or plays their role too seriously or just plain wrong by Toby's standards.
    • Detective Scott performs "Trollfighters," which he still doesn't realized that it was all an act to cover up Dictatious' presence in the Lake household that time.
    • The Dentist, who hasn't done anything yet, stated that in his previous profession was that he once killed a man in the wrestling ring.
    • Steve Palchuk auditioned for DJ Kleb and gives off a surprisingly good performance that made Toby, Eli, Stuart and Aaarrrgghh cry in sympathy. And Toby was seriously considering recasting Steve as DJ Kleb.
    • Lenora Janeth performs an excerpt from her one-woman show, "Is It Love or Is It just A Prank", which involves her hamming it up with her usual over-dramatic performance.
    • Senor Uhl is too monotone to perform as a screaming bystander, resulting to several cuts.
  • Thinks Like a Romance Novel: Mother has been studying human emotions by referring to romantic comedies.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: Varvatos manage to win Nancy over and walks off with her for a day out together.
  • Wham Episode: Aja learns that Morando is on Earth and has allied with Kubritz.
  • You Have Failed Me: General Morando kills Tronos because he failed to capture the Tarrons. And to give Kubritz an idea what's in store for her if she fails him.
