Present Day. Charlie is seen giving a speech at a funeral. He talks about how the latest tragedy has affecting himself and his friends.

Flashback. Sheriff Diaz is watching footage of Clay on the football field during the high school dance. After the prank on Clay, Diaz believes that there is a connection to Monty de la Cruz. The school board are deciding whether Clay and Diego should be allowed to attend the senior camping trip, having been suspended from school for the past 2 weeks after the football prank. Jessica thinks Clay shouldn't go but she is outvoted by everyone else. Clay begins to feel paranoid in the school halls, feeling like everyone is talking about him.

During his therapy session, Clay confides in Dr. Ellman that he feels like his friends are against him. He suggests speaking to someone about the football team however Clay dismisses him, saying it would be the dumbest thing to do.

Later on, Jessica, Clay, Tony, Zach, Alex, Ani and Justin receive a suspicious email saying they will reveal the truth at the senior camping trip if the group don't confess on their own. The sender is shown to be Clay who immediately denies it, saying his account must have been hacked. Justin says they should stay at home but their minds are changed when Lainie Jensen says she's joining the trip.

The group arrive at the woods for the camping trip and Clay confronts Diego. He suggests he is the person behind the hack on his emails. Afterwards, Clay finds Alex and tells him that Winston was close to Monty and has an alibi about where Monty was the night Bryce died. He uses that information as warning to stay away from Winston indefinitely. Meanwhile, Tony is suspicious of Tyler and thinks he's the one who's hacked Clay's emails. When he asks Tyler about his afternoon with Deputy Standall, Tyler explains that he needed someone to talk to. Tony isn't convinced.

During the camp share, Lainie Jensen asks everyone to share who they like the most and the reason why. Diego speaks up and says that his friends always have his back and he misses Monty. He explains that Monty taught him all about pride and got him to start playing football.

The following day, everyone goes separate ways for a treasure hunt. They are required to find clues on the sheets and leave their phones behind at camp. Clay and Justin pair up. Clay walks further ahead and complains to Justin that he's not the same person since he came back from rehab. However, when he gets no answer, he turns to see Justin has disappeared. Clay begins to panic and goes to look for him.

Alex and Jessica have partnered up. As they're walking, they hear Clay calling Justin's name but Jessica says she's asked Diego to leave Clay alone. She finds a clue and reaches down to get it from inside a tree trunk. When she pulls her hand back out, it's covered in maggots. Alex backs away and throws up before running off.

Back at the camp, Lainie discovers the real clue sheets in a bin and believes the football team have swapped them around. Clay is still searching for Justin when he's jumped by the football team, tied up and thrown into a hole. Clay is knocked unconscious. He dreams that he is speaking to Monty, asking him why the football team are after him. Monty says that they will always have his back and they love him. Clay asks how they could ever possibly love him after what he did to Tyler. Monty replies that he acted out of fear and anger. He asks Clay whether he'd ever felt that kind of anger take over before.

Tyler finds Alex sitting on a bench, having ditched the treasure hunt all together. Tyler asks Alex what happened between him and Winston. Alex tells him the truth; that Winston was only hanging out with Tyler to get information about what happened to Bryce. Tyler sighs, knowing that he'd been used again. Alex leaves him and finds Zach on a boat out in the lake. They both moan to each other about their problems whilst drinking. Alex falls out of the boat and struggles to swim before Zach jumps in after and drags him to the shore.

In the woods, Tyler is taking photographs when Winston happens upon him. Tyler asks him why he didn't tell him that Winston knew Monty. Winston replies that he couldn't, knowing what he had done to Tyler. Tyler walks off, clearly unhappy with his answer.

Later in the afternoon, Clay is still missing. The football team decide to go and get him but they find him gone when they reach the hole. They go back to a cabin away from camp where Diego admits to Justin that the prank and the clue sheets was them but something else is going on now. One of the footballers, Beecher, stumbles into the cabin, bound in ropes. Jessica is still out in the woods alone and is seeing hallucinations of Bryce with bugs crawling out of his face.

At camp, Alex is talking to his dad, Deputy Standall and tells him that he nearly drowned earlier at the lake. He admits that he's struggling with letting Bryce drown and wants to go to the police. His dad shuts him down, telling him that the group had all covered for him because he deserves to live his life. He comforts Alex before a scream rings through the woods.

Night has fallen and back in the cabin, Diego, Jessica, Justin and Charlie discuss where they think Clay is. They're interrupted by loud rattling outside the cabin. Zach arrives later and is clearly drunk. The football team leaves the cabin whilst the remaining kids stay as Zach explains he has something to tell them. He explains that Winston was with Monty on the night of Bryce's murder and can now alibi for him. They all discuss their theories over the emails sent and each person thinks differently. Justin says it could be any of them but that they shouldn't let this break them apart.

Clay wakes up in the hole. He sees graffiti on the wall before he climbs out. He blows the horn which declares he's the winner and drops all of the treasure bags at camp. He then accuses people of throwing him in the hole.

At the campfire, Lainie asks the students how the trip has changed them. Clay says that nothing's changed. Winston states that he's gotten to know people better than before and Alex just says he hates camping.

Winston later visits Clay in his tent. He tells him that their whole group acts irrationally; Alex randomly broke up with him and Tyler just ends their friendship. He asks him who in their group is Bryce's killer.
