College Tour
At the funeral, the pastor states the world has become a cruel place and the measures to keep children safe aren't enough.
6 months earlier. Flashback.Clay is filling out college applications in the middle of the night. He gets confused when he receives a call from Monty. He begins to panic when he can't block the call. A shadow appears in the bathroom so Clay goes to investigate. It's then morning and Justin goes to the bathroom door to ask Clay if he's okay. 3am is suddenly 7am.
When they arrive at school, the main office doors have been graffitied with "Monty was Framed". Everyone is concerned apart from Zach, who seems to find it funny. When Clay opens his locker, there's a red spray painted face inside which leads him to believe he's being framed. He confides his worries to Ani who thinks it may have been Winston but Clay is convinced it's someone in their inner circle that's to blame.
In the hallway, one of the school officers stops Tony randomly and asks to search his bag. He sees red paint on Tony's hands and asks where it's come from. Tony explains it's from the car shop he works at. The officer notices the callouses on Tony's hands, suggesting his hobby of boxing.
In the school darkroom, Tyler is showing Winston photos of the graffiti on the office door. Winston asks Tyler if it was Monty who had hurt him and Tyler confirms it was. Winston says that Tyler must hate Monty however Tyler says he doesn't, he only pities him.
Clay is sat on the bus on the way to the college tour when a can of red spray paint rolls into his foot. He quickly puts it in his bag so he can throw it away on campus. Principal Bolan decides to join the students on the tour. When they arrive, they are greeted by Mr. Jensen as the official tour leader. He lets Justin and Clay know that he's arranged a meeting with the Dean of Admissions after the tour. Despite Justin's excitement, Clay is more focused on the fact that the principal and his dad are on first name terms. Clay asks Alex to keep an eye on Tyler whilst he sticks with Zach. Clay follows Zach when he decides to ditch the tour for a college party instead. They end up joining in on some drinking games and Clay leaves his backpack on a chair nearby. Clay goes to find a bathroom and finds a girl drunk on the stairs. Her boyfriend shows up and takes her up to his room. Clay follows them upstairs and finds her on the bed, unconscious. He sees the hallucination of Bryce, who encourages Clay to assault the girl. Clay appears to start unbuckling his belt as the girl's boyfriend comes in. Clay runs downstairs and sees his backpack missing. Some of the college boys grab him and he has a panic attack, screaming at them to let him go.
Elsewhere, Jessica is mad at Justin because he seems so calm over the graffiti incident. Justin tells her he thinks everything will be okay but Jess thinks this is because if the truth of Bryce's death were revealed, Justin would be the least affected. Alex has left Tyler to his own devices and instead confides in Winston about his attempted suicide. The two begin making out before Alex backs off, claiming he's not gay and leaves.
At the college campus security, Mr. Jensen is angry at Clay's missed opportunity with the Dean. Justin attended the meeting to which Clay reacts bitterly before throwing up. At home, Justin tells Clay that he's afraid he will relapse. He doesn't want to cost the family any more money and will go to attend Sanderson as it's close to home and is free. Clay just says that he doesn't have any college choices now anyway and declines Justin's help. He opens his backpack to find two cans of spray paint inside.
Ani and Winston meet at Monet's where he asks her what really happened to Bryce. Ani refuses to give him any information which only motivates Winston to find out the truth and clear Monty's name. Alex asks Clay why he needs to keep an eye on Tyler when they get to school. He asks him if he doesn't trust Tyler anymore. Clay's paranoia is fuelled further when he sees Alex talking to Winston.
Clay is called into the principal's office regarding what happened at the tour. The college have decided not to take matters any further. He wants to help Clay by trying to understand why Clay had done what he did however Clay is distracted by photos of the graffiti on the desk.
Meanwhile, Ani bumps into Estela at the activist group room. Estela tells her that she's not here to defend Monty however she is curious as to why Monty would hurt Bryce considering they were such close friends.
Alex goes to the boxing gym to ask Tony some questions. He's questioning his sexuality and as Tony is openly gay, Alex asks him how he knew.
Clay goes to another therapy session and discusses the incident at the college party. He explains that at the time, he was only thinking about sex and not the fact the girl was unconscious on the bed. The thought had scared him and caused a panic attack.
Later on, Zach meets Chloe. She senses something is up with him and asks what's wrong. After wrestling with whether to tell her anything or not, Zach just says that everything is fucked up and there's nothing she can do to change it.
Clay retursn home from therapy and sees Sheriff Diaz speaking to his parents. Clay has a panic attack. On the same night, Clay is filling out more applications before hallucinating spam messages sent from Monty. In his application, he writes one line. "I covered up a murder".
