"Don't you dare make me feel like I failed my daughter."

In the aftermath of the released tapes, everyone is shaken up, apart from Bryce. When he arrives at the school, someone has spray painted 'rapist' on his locker yet he seems unfazed. Justin returns to Liberty High to confront Bryce. However, despite his bravery, Bryce insults him with what Justin has always feared; being 'white trash' and a 'junkie's son'. Justin is triggered to find what he's worked hard to detox from: heroin. He heads back to Clay's house to shoot up. Instead of Clay, Alex is the one who finds Justin unconscious and on the bed on his back. Alex attempts to roll Justin over so he doesn't choke on his vomit; a hard feat considering Alex's on physical issues but he succeeds. Alex decides his body isn't as broken as he thinks.

Alex returns to his own house and apologises to his dad for ruining the birthday party they had put on for him. He asks him if he wants to play a video game called Desert Duty with him. During their brief game, a memory is triggered but Alex can't seem to place a finger on exactly what his brain is holding back from him.

During an opening ceremony for a new baseball field at the school, Tyler and Cyrus decide to continue their blackmail of Marcus. They want him to out Bryce in front of everyone or the clubhouse video will go viral. The ceremony is a big event with everyone there, including Bryce's parents who have paid for the field to be made. Due to the tape release the night before, the event also hosts a protest congregates there declaring they shouldn't celebrate a rapist like Bryce. Bryce's father is unconcerned with the drama but his mother, Nora believes that her son could be potentially capable of what he's been accused of. Chloe also appears to be changing her mind towards Bryce. In the girl's toilets, she reads the malicious messages people have written on the walls about Jessica. Instead of adding to them, she scribbles them out. Jessica later sees what Chloe has done and smiles.

However, Chloe is seen sitting with Bryce during the ribbon-cutting. Marcus, however, steps down from his group 'En GU Ytened' and admits to the crowd that he has been protecting Bryce Walker for the past few months, even after finding out about his assaults. Bryce confronts Marcus after the ceremony but is told that the tapes are already out, meaning Marcus had no choice but to protect himself. Bryce cuts all ties.

Clay receives a call from Skye, after weeks of not hearing a word. She explains that she hasn't been ignoring him, she has just received her phone privileges in the health facility she's been staying at. Skye has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and is excited to learn how to live a happier and healthier life. She tells a disappointed Clay that they won't be able to get back together because she's going to live with an aunt and uncle in another state. She does tell him that he can help people at the school, just not the way he thinks he should.

Tyler is shown in the woods with Cyrus, once again practising shooting at cans. Tyler decides he wants to shoot something else and picks a bird on a nearby branch. He kills it straight away, marvelling over how quickly it went from flying to being dead.

Hannah's home life is looked at during the trial. Andy is revealed to have been seeing his new girlfriend during his marriage to Olivia and whilst Hannah was still alive. Hannah had discovered the affair when she had seen them on a day out, and confronted him. Andy had asked Hannah to not reveal his affair and that he would tell Olivia himself.Olivia takes the stand and is questioned by Sonya. She is asked whether she knew Hannah knew about the affair and how painful that would have been for her daughter. Olivia recalls a day when Hannah had brought her her favourite flowers and just thought of it as kind and sweet. Sonya asks Olivia why Hannah was never taken to see a therapist, despite her mother seeing one for years. Olivia hasn't got an answer other than Hannah seemed happy. After the testimony, Andy and Olivia argue. Andy tells her that they need to take some responsibility for missing the signs of Hannah's sadness.

Back at the house, Clay tells Hannah's ghost that killing herself was an evil and selfish thing to do. Hannah tells him that she was just too sad to understand how much hurt she would cause to others by ending her life. Clay tells her to get the fuck out.

Justin returns home to the environment where his mother and drug dealer boyfriend still live.
