Gargamel gets a box of dirty tricks from a man in the mountain. He loses the box and lands into the Smurf Village. The other Smurfs take it to Papa Smurf and are trusted to not open it. Once Papa Smurf leaves, the others are sent to bed by Brainy Smurf. Thinking about the box, the Smurfs finally open it and realize there's nothing inside. A pink cloud emerges the moment the Smurfs went back to their homes. It starts to cause chaos among the village, even resulting in a food fight. Meanwhile, Gargamel and Azrael spot Brainy being thrown out of the village. They enter, succeed in capturing all the Smurfs and the pink cloud is sent back into the box. The next day, Papa Smurf returns to find all the Smurfs missing (including the box). He spots a trail of footprints, realizing that Gargamel is behind all this. He sets off to Gargamel's hovel and quietly sprinkles an invisibility spell on the other Smurfs. They escape from the hovel safe and sound. The episode ends with Gargamel (with an invisible nose) being chased away by the pink cloud.
This episode provides examples of:
- Captain Oblivious: With the exception of Papa Smurf, all the other Smurfs are unaware of the pink cloud causing trouble in the village.
- Chase Scene: Gargamel enters the village to pursue and capture the Smurfs. At the end, he gets chased out of his hovel by the pink cloud.
- Evil Is Easy: Gargamel caught all the Smurfs in one sitting. Averted near the end when Papa Smurf rescues them through magic.
- Food Fight: The pink cloud tricks Greedy and the other Smurfs into throwing food at each other.
- Getting the Boot: Brainy Smurf gets thrown out of the village in the middle of the episode. Strangely, there is no logical explanation why he was thrown out during the middle of a riot.
- Invisibility: Papa Smurf sprinkles a spell on the other Smurfs and himself to escape from Gargamel's clutches.
- Out-of-Character Moment: Clumsy angrily responds to being pelted by smurfberries.
- Plot Hole: At the end, Papa Smurf and the other Smurfs leave the hovel without explaining why the Box of Dirty Tricks is dangerous. The other Smurfs don't even apologize for being so foolish.
