A civilian Scout named Fixer enjoys a pretty typical workday at Railway United. Everything great about his life here is flipped on its head when an unexpected train arrives, full of corrupted mercenaries. The force that made them this way soon spreads as Fixer naps during his break, and as soon as he wakes up, he's thrust into the most terrifying fight for survival in his life.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Early-Bird Cameo: A couple times throughout the episode, a Soldier wearing a fedora and an identical overcoat to those worn by the V.A.C. Soldiers appears. First, he's walking through the city as Fixer drives to work, and next, he's napping on the second train Fixer and his team repair. His significance becomes apparent very soon after the third episode.
  • Foreshadowing: As Fixer drives across Route 371, he notices a strange, masked Medic traveling the same direction as him on foot, unbothered by the desert heat and sand. While confused, Fixer simply continues on his way... not realizing that, in only a few hours, the same Medic will initiate the Railway United Incident.
  • It Works Better with Bullets: After reuniting with Jumpsuit during the Railway United outbreak, Jumpsuit asks to inspect Hotrods' shotgun, which Fixer had been using. He quickly figures out that it's run out of ammo, but to communicate this with Fixer, he safely pulls the trigger with the gun pointed away from them. As predicted, nothing comes out. Fixer's worried at first, but Jumpsuit assures him they'll be safe and leads him into an exit to the next facility, where they'll find better protection.
    Fixer: We are screwed!
  • Mr. Fixit: Fixer and the rest of the Railway United staff are dedicated to repairing every train that enters their workshop. The first half of this episode's part is dedicated to showing what they generally do with their work, with Hot Rod and Fixer doing repairs, a RED Engineer controlling the workshop's gate, and Jumpsuit relaying communications between both other parties.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: During their lunch break, Fixer notices that Jumpsuit seems a little down about something. Fixer isn't sure what it is, but he decides to offer some words of encouragement, letting Jumpsuit know that he really values his company as a coworker and a friend, and it seems to cheer him up.
[In the breakroom, Jumpsuit hasn't grabbed anything to eat and is listlessly gazing towards the floor. Fixer purchases something from a nearby vending machine and sits down beside him. Jumpsuit turns to look at Fixer, still leaning his head down.]
    Fixer: 'Ey! You good?
[Jumpsuit only offers a sad shrug.]
Fixer: It's okay, seriously! Yeah, we're doing pretty good! Am I right? Best of the best—and best friends!
[Surprised, Jumpsuit raises his head as he focuses more of his gaze on Fixer.]
Fixer: We don't say it a lot. Or at all. But we're all feelin' it here, in our hearts, y'know? The fre-the friendship. You and me! The freakin' Scouts owning this!
    Coworker Spy: Yes, yes, Scout.
    Fixer: Yeah?
    Coworker Spy: Get a room.
    Fixer: Ha!
[Jumpsuit has exited his seat and exchanges a thumbs-up with Fixer as he leaves. Fixer chuckles happily and turns to look at the Spy.]
    Coworker Spy: Quite a Scout.
Fixer: [all smiles] He's a good guy! Heh-hah!
