At the day of the rookies exam a group of terrorists plans to release a deathly virus. Investigating one of the leads, they find a divorced dad picked up a bag containing the virus and accidentally infected himself.

Bradford quarantines himself with the man, unsure if he's been infected or not. Lopez and West save several people by apprehending a second terrorist. This allows West and his father to reconcile.


Tropes:

  • Ambiguous Situation: Whether or not Jessica executed the terrorist after he surrendered or he was reaching for a weapon.
  • Asshole Victim: The second terrorist is gunned down by Jessica after he surrendered.
  • Bad Liar: When Lucy Chen tells Tim Bradford that the virus is only minutes away, he responds that she has many talents, but lying isn't one of them.
  • Cliffhanger: Near the end of the episode it looks like Tim Bradford isn't infected with the virus. Then he suddenly faints and the episode ends.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: The unlucky man who infected himself by taking the wrong bag dies from bleeding from the eyes.
  • Did You Actually Believe...?: The Phony Psychic points out she wouldn't be reading palms if she was really psychic.
  • Driven to Suicide: Bradford states he would rather kill himself than succumb to the virus.
  • Generic Doomsday Villain: The terrorist group is given no motivation for destroying Los Angeles other than "it represents everything they hate about America."
  • Phony Psychic: The protagonists rescue one from an angry customer who assumes she knows about the murder the customer had committed.
  • Right for the Wrong Reasons: In one episode, Chen and Bradford rescue a store-front psychic from a man who attacked her after she mentioned that she saw him with a beautiful woman in the woods; as it turns out, the man was suspected of murdering his wife and disposing of her in the woods, but the psychic just said something that sounded good.
  • Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: Bishop rejects IA's offer to become a spy and calls Commander West on her.
  • Western Terrorist: The episode is about a terrorist group that consists of Americans who try to release a virus in Los Angeles, because according to them it represents everything that is wrong with their country.
