Henry comes to visit his father, Nolan, and immediately bonds with Sergeant Grey's daughter, Dominque. Andersen and Grey meanwhile decide to do a ride-along with the rookies in order to keep themselves rooted in the challenges faced by their officers. Andersen rides with Officer Chen and Grey with Nolan. Bradford and Bishop are partnered together despite both of them being experienced officers.
Nolan ends up saving Grey from a house fire where the latter collapses from smoke inhalation. Chen impresses Captain Andersen with her determination even as they encounter a domestic squabble that ends in suicide. Nolan and his son have a heart to heart over the dangers of the job.
