Penny throws her own party, unfortunately things do not go her way when LaCienega hosts her own party on the same night.

- Both Sides Have a Point: Trudy is correct that Penny is the host so she needs to put on a brave face while entertaining her guests. Penny, on the other hand, has a right to be upset that her own friends didn't even show up and nothing went according to plan. She definitely didn't invite the Gross Sisters because they are her bullies. She only lets them in under protest.
- Childish Tooth Gap: One of Penny's photos in her opening slideshow presentation shows her at her kindergarten graduation, complete with a missing tooth, as lampshaded by Penny.
- Crossing the Burnt Bridge: Penny's friends beg to be let into her party, a few hours after they ditched her. Penny snarkily says they must have lost their invitations. She slams the door in their face after they spend a while complaining about how LaCienega's party. One order with her mother later, she lets them inside.
- Disney Acid Sequence: Rawls sings his signature song "You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine" in this kind of sequence, with a few supporting characters (including Bebe and Cece) lip-syncing some of the song.
- The Dog Bites Back: Penny doesn't exclude her friends from the party when they come a few hours later, but she does make them squirm for a bit and beg for her forgiveness. The only reason she lets them in is because Trudy forces her to, saying it will make her feel "better".
- Hidden Depths: The Gross Sisters are revealed to be talented singers, as they demonstrate by performing an a capella version of "Danny Boy" at Penny's party.
- Laser-Guided Karma: After Zoey, Sticky and Dijonay abandon Penny to go LaCienega's party, they end up having a terrible time due to Suga Mama and Puff eating all the food and her father got Trini Lopez by mistake. Then when they decide to come over to Penny’s party instead, she refuses to let them in at first, until they start begging her for forgiveness and Trudy urges Penny.
- Speaking of LaCienega gets what she deserves for having a party the same night as Penny was having hers, it ends up being ruined by Suga Mama and Puff, and her father mishearing her and getting the wrong singer. It is even more deserved on her part considering everything she did to Penny without facing any consequences.
- Pet the Dog: The Gross Sisters are on their best behavior during the party, even singing a rendition of "Danny Boy".
- Wild Teen Party: Subverted, much to Penny's disappointment. She only has four party guests, three of which are the local bullies, and Suga Mama is in charge of the games. With her parents at home, there is no time for shenanigans.
- With Friends Like These...: Zoey, Sticky and Dijonay ditch Penny to go to Lacienega’s party.
- Very False Advertising: LaCienega promised an appearance by Jennifer Lopez at her party. Turns out they ended up getting folk singer Trini Lopez, though he is not seen.
- You Are Not Alone: Penny complains that no one at this party or at LaCienega's doesn't seem to care how she is feeling that her night was ruined, only wanting her to entertain and be the gracious host. Lou Rawls sings to her with sympathy that it's not true, she has people who care about her.
