Chapter 48: Museum Mission

Amara and the Plantars set out on their own the find a way back home, leading them to a mad scientist.

Tropes That Appear In This Chapter:

  • Adaptational Karma: Instead of being mobbed by snack-crazed toddlers, Dr. Frakes is instead arrested for brandishing an active buzzsaw around civilians and injuring someone with it.
  • An Arm and a Leg: In protecting the Plantars from Frakes, Amara loses one of her arms along with her tail.
  • Cassandra Truth: While Dr. Frakes rants about Amara and the Plantars being sentient amphibians to the police, Dr. Jan and the Lyft driver tell them she was deluded into thinking that. Since Frakes had put the populace in harm's way, she's arrested on the spot.
  • Continuity Nod: Once again, Amara loses her tail.
  • For Want Of A Nail: Anne doesn't accompany the Plantars to the Museum and Brainasium, that role going to Amara. For her actions against the amphibians, Dr. Frakes is arrested for putting lives in danger.
  • Homeschooled Kids: While Anne and Luz are able to go back to school, they choose to continue their education with online studies since they don't want to fan any rumor flames about their relationship.
  • In Spite of a Nail: Even without Anne, the Plantars find Dr Frakes and try to get her to open a portal to Amphibia. Dr Frakes still tries to dissect them after learning the truth and Terri helps the group to escape, agreeing to help building the portal. Dr Jan also learns that the Plantars are frogs.
  • It's All My Fault: The Plantars push Amara into having Dr. Frakes use her portal to reach Amphibia despite Amara's protests. When it leads to their capture on top of Amara losing her tail and right arm, they take resposibility for her injuries.
  • Out of Focus: Luz and Anne take a backseat to the amphibians since they're busy with online classes and helping their parents at their respective workplaces.
  • Pragmatic Adaptation: Dr Jan's introduction in "Fight at the Museum" and the episode "If You Give a Frog Cookie" are merged together, with elements of "Thanks to Them" included as well.
