Chrysalis, the CEO of a tech manufacturing company, uses the Zone Spider Medallion to steal the secrets of her rival companies. When Trixie, Flash, and the others confront her over her theft, it results in a fight.
- Big Damn Heroes: Inverted with a villain saving another villain. Right when the heroes have Chrysalis dead to rights and about to force her to hand over her Medallion, Devious suddenly arrives and helps Chrysalis escape.
- Bittersweet Ending: Trixie manages to defeat Chrysalis with help from Flash and their friends. But before she can take her medallion away from her, Devious arrives and saves her from them, and convinces Chrysalis to join forces with him, realizing the only reason Trixie has been able to beat them in the past is because of the help she gets from her friends.
- Didn't Think This Through: Flash goes Diamutt to go underground and attack Chrysalis from below, the one area her Medallion can't affect. But since he travels through the sewers and his sense of smell is a hundred times better than a human's, he is assaulted by an awful stench, with him outright feeling like he is in hell.
- Dramatic Irony: The final scene has Trixie worried after failing to find Chrysalis after she and Devious escape. She initially thought Devious was planning to steal her powers right away and leave her for dead, but believes that isn't the case since she can't find her, and believes Devious is planning something big. The readers know from the scene directly before this though that Chrysalis and Devious agreed to team-up against Trixie and the rest of her friends, the final scene has Trixie searching in vain for Chrysalis.
- I Surrender, Suckers: When everyone confronts Chrysalis in her office and get the proof they need that she was the thief who stole from the tech company, Trixie demands she hand over her Medallion, since she has not only abused its power but will be a target for Devious. Chrysalis slowly approaches her while holding out the Medallion, seemingly ready to hand it over peacefully, only to pull back when it is inches away from Trixie and place it on her forehead, transforming into her spider-themed costume and teleporting the group outside in an attempt to kill them.
- Multi-Armed and Dangerous: The costume Chrysalis wears when using her Medallion creates four extra spider-like legs that grow from the spider symbol on her back, which she can use in combat.
- Mythology Gag: Devious offers to let Chrysalis live like a queen in his new world, this of course references how her Equestrian counterpart is a queen (or more accurately a former queen).
- News Travels Fast: The opening scene has Flash stopping some criminals as his new alien Cat-Apult. By the time he, Twilight, and Sunset arrive at the tech company, Pinkie shows them that there are already headlines of the incident.
- Shout-Out:
- The worker of the tech company that meets the CHS students is named "Crescent Rose".
- Applejack uses a trick from an anime she and Flash like, flicking her finger to send out a powerful burst of air. This is based on Deku's Delaware Smash, Air Force.
- Teleportation: This is power of the Zone Spider Medallion. It creates a "warp web" that they can teleport themselves or anything else inside it to another section of it at the user's choice.
- Villain: Exit, Stage Left: Chrysalis manages to use her teleportation powers to escape after being beaten, with a little help from Devious giving her a boost with a crystal.
- Villain Team-Up: Devious proposes one to Chrysalis after helping her escape. He recognizes that the two of them have only ever been defeated by Trixie in the past because she had help from her friends. So he offers that if she helps him defeat them and gather the other Medallions, including her own when he needs it, he'll make her his right-hand woman and give her a position of power in his new world. She accepts his offer.
