Recap / The Omnitrix Hero S 2 E 4 Ten Aliens and a Baby

Go To

Flash's planned day of relaxing is cut short when Shining calls him, begging him to babysit Flurry Heart at the last minute. Now Flash needs to keep Flurry entertained and safe, while also dealing with strange disturbances happening around the park.

  • Babysitting Episode: Shining Armor asks Flash to babysit Flurry Heart last minute due to nobody else being available.
  • Badass and Baby: Flash and Flurry in this chapter. While babysitting Flurry, Flash needs to take her along with him to perform his normal hero duties so not to leave her alone and needs to keep her safe and out of sight. Flurry meanwhile is having the time of her life.
  • Children Are Innocent: Flurry Heart, a baby only a little more than a year old, has the time of her life when Flash has to take her with him on his hero duties. She is constantly laughing and having fun, and sees Flash's aliens as new friends for her to play with. The only time she shows any discomfort is when Riot-Horn keeps her covered while fighting the bank robbers, not liking the sound the guns make.
  • Condescending Compassion: When Flash takes Flurry to the park, several parents stare at him as he takes Flurry to the swing, apparently thinking Flash is Flurry's teenage father. One woman approaches him with her own child, and says how cute of a baby Flurry is, before stating she probably looks more like her mother. Flash sets her, and by extension the other parents straight, by saying she is a good mix of both her parents and he is just babysitting her and to not assume the worst about a teenager with a baby.
  • The Diaper Change: Flash is horrified of needing to change Flurry when she makes a mess in her diaper. The first time is painless thanks to using Molestache for the hard part, but the second time he needs to do it himself due to the Omnitrix being timed out and the two of them being in the middle of the park anyway. Both times he can't get the diaper to stick and eventually just duct-tapes it to Flurry.
  • Don't Touch It, You Idiot!: When Flash sees the situation going on at the bank, he tries to ignore it to avoid putting Flurry in such a dangerous situation. But in this moment of inattentiveness, Flurry starts messing with the Omnitrix, either because she knows what's going on or just to play with it, and when Flash finally notices it he only has time to say "Wait!" before Flurry slams the dial down and transforms him into Riot-Horn. Now transformed, Flash decides now he needs to help at the bank while also protecting Flurry.
  • Drama-Preserving Handicap: Flash as Riot-Horn goes to stop the bank robbers, and normally his strongest physical alien could handle the situation no problem. However, since he has Flurry Heart with him, he ends up literally fighting with one hand, since he keeps the other one covering Flurry to keep her safe.
  • Fire-Forged Friendship: A downplayed version between Flash and Flurry. Flash is nervous about babysitting Flurry at first, since he has never been responsible for an infant all by himself before and knows how important she is to Shining, and Flurry just sees Flash as a stranger at first. As the two spend time together though, and Flash is forced to bring Flurry along as he saves people, the two form a bond with each other by the end of the chapter, with Flurry smiling at Flash and Flash agreeing to babysit her again anytime Shining and Cadance need him.
  • Mundane Utility: Flash uses Molestache's Prehensile Hair to change Flurry's diaper the first time.
  • Pop-Culture Pun Episode Title: The title is a reference to the film Three Men and a Baby.
  • Porn Stash: It is implied Gizmo has porn on his laptop. When the police confiscate his laptop from him and open it to look at the windows, one window causes them to look disgusted and make one cop comment that Gizmo needs a girlfriend.
