Just as an argument gets Felix to give up his pushy caretaking, Oscar comes down with another ulcer. Felix decides to hire a nurse to ensure his ailing roommate improves, but naturally he and Oscar have different requirements for the position, and Felix's determination to find a proper nurse may send Oscar's stress through the roof.
This episode includes examples of the following tropes:
- Annoying Patient: Inverted; when Felix asks if Oscar would recover better at home, the doctor says that he might if someone other than Felix (who he describes as a "carrier" for ulcers) took care of him.
- Battleaxe Nurse: Ms. Frost, the nurse Felix ends up hiring, fills the apartment with tension due to her stubborn, grim personality. Upon being hired, she takes over the place, and Felix ultimately has to fire her because of how difficult it is even for him as the employer to assert his authority.
- Big Eater: The episode opens with Oscar in an eating contest with Murray and Vinnie. He wins, apparently having eaten multiple pizzas by himself. Naturally, this attracts Felix's ire and flares up Oscar's stomach.
- Continuity Nod: During an argument with Ms. Frost, Felix says he was a lieutenant in the army. Unfortunately for him, she's unimpressed; she held a higher rank.
- Hired for Their Looks: Felix's advertisement attracts two initial candidates: Mrs. Miller, a motherly older woman with a good eye for cleaning up messes, and Miss Hanogi, a young Asian woman who doesn't. Oscar wants Felix to hire the second candidate, simply because she's attractive. Felix isn't impressed.
- Shout-Out: Oscar says that when he contemplated Felix hiring a nurse for him, he thought she would have rosy cheeks and sing songs with long nonsense words.
- Stealth Insult: Oscar's doctor says Felix is a "carrier" for ulcers (that is, he doesn't get them himself, but he can still give them to other people). Given the common assumption that ulcers come from stress, he's saying Felix's annoying characteristics make other people sick.
