It is the only Fantastic Four sequel, which doesn't say much. It is just as bad as the first movie.

Release date: September 18, 2018

Review of: Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer

We remembered these tropes so you don't have to:

  • The Alcoholic: The Adequately Impressive Three are first seen hung over from a night of bar-hopping.
  • Aside Glance: When the Critic tells him that Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer is the best Fantastic Four movie from 20th Century Fox, Rob looks toward the camera and admits that, sadly, the Critic is right.
  • Comes Great Responsibility: Rob gets exceedingly frustrated by the Adequatly Impressive Three's complete inability to adhere to this like any good superhero. Malcom (while heavily drunk) outright states they're not going to bother being good heroes until Fox starts putting actual effort into their Marvel movies.
  • Designated Heroinvoked: The Critic once again tears the Four apart for not being or doing anything heroic. He's actually shocked and impressed when they save people from a crisis they didn't immediately cause.
  • Dissonant Serenity: The "heroes" don't seem too upset that the world is on fire.
Malcolm: We let that happen a lot.
Critic: Yeah, what is this, like, the tenth Earth we've been through on this show?
  • Even Better Sequelinvoked: Which sadly isn't saying much. The Critic largely admits that the film is better than the previous one, but he came into this with low expectations already, so he wasn't really expecting much.
  • Freudian Slip: As the Critic is about to review this movie, he says, "Let's take a look at Fantastic Four: Rise of the Middle Finger— I mean, Silver Surfer."
  • Lethally Stupid: The Critic takes issue with the military trusting Dr. Doom with the Silver Surfer's source of nigh endless power. There is no way to rationalize this, it's just pure stupidity.
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: Rob delivers one on the headwear of the Adequately Impressive Three at the end, by stomping on it, taking a hammer to it and then destroying it with a bomb.
  • Obviously Evil: HIS NAME IS DOOM!
  • The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: The Adequately Impressive Three, as always, don't do anything with their powers. They would just as soon go bar-hopping, which they have been planning for a long time, as actually save the day.
Rob: Seriously?! Are you idiots ever gonna treat your powers with dignity?!
  • Punctuated! For! Emphasis!: Appalled at their irresponsibility, Rob tries to tell the supeheroes that the world is on fire. When they don't listen to him, he has to repeat himself in this manner: "THE WORLD! IS LITERALLY! ON FIRE!!!!"
  • Running Gag:
    • The Critic sarcastically exclaiming "Fantastic!" for every scene the Four are doing anything outside being heroic.
    • The Critic pointing out to Sue's zit still being masked to highlight the film's tendency for Skewed Priorities.
    • After a scene plays where the Commander asks “What the hell is wrong with you people?” to the Fantastic Four having an argument in the helicopter going to London, it becomes a go-to every time the Critic points out how the Fantastic Four or any of the characters showcase their Skewed Priorities in how they solve their problems rather than something more reasonable. With each subsequent cut, the Commander’s sentence gets cut off sooner, as if to punctuate how often it happens.
  • Shout-Out: Rob berates the Critic and Malcolm for their irresponsibility and tells them, "The world is on fire!" How do they react? By drunkenly singing...
    Critic: How about yours?
    (Malcolm joins in)
Critic and Malcolm: That's the way I like it, and I never get bored!
  • Skewed Priorities: The Critic rips into the Fantastic Four with how despite the entire world going through an impending apocalypse, they still focus more on Reed and Sue's wedding. Even the world news treats their wedding with more significance than the end of the world.
Critic: You need a planet to get married on jackasses. You are all jackasses!
    • He also pokes fun at how Sue puts focus into keeping her zit covered even with all the disasters that occur.
  • Take That!: The Adequately Impressive Three all are hung over as Iron Fist (2017) is playing on the TV.
  • Unexplained Recovery: At the end of his review of Freddy Got Fingered, the Critic says that he killed off Rob for real, but he returns in this video, very much alive, albeit with Band-Aids on his forehead where the Critic had shot him.

"It's clobberin' time." *GASP*
