Recap / The Muppets Mayhem S1E10 "Track 10: We Will Rock You"

Go To

After their failure to reunite the band sends a despondent Nora running away, Animal must round up the band and snap them out of their dazes in order to restore the "magic of the Mayhem" and give Nora the Hollywood Bowl concert of her dreams.

Tropes:

  • Almost Kiss: Nora and Moog start moving towards each other in the record store, apparently about to kiss, when Animal pops up between them.
  • The Cameo: Statler and Waldorf are in the audience for the band's concert at the Hollywood Bowl, making them the only other pre-existing Muppet characters to appear in this show.
  • Chekhov's Gag: A two-fer. Zoot's shutterbug habit is to substitute for his poor memory, and the photos he's posted to the top of their tour bus end up revealing the location of the sack of money that he had lost all those years ago, which is now going to be used to finance the band's upcoming tour.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Despite living within the shack for weeks, the band apparently never noticed that their old tour bus was in the garage, which Penny lampshades.
  • Mondegreen Gag: The Cold Open reveals that Nora is still convinced the lyrics to "Rock And Roll All Nite" are "part of every day". The Mayhem decide to settle the issue by having Lips, who has a Photographic Memory for lyrics, sing the line. Of course it ends up being unintelligible.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: The band, each having become consumed by their new lifestyles in a scene before, are all aghast at hearing Animal say that Nora was gone and that she left cause she felt like she had failed them by not being able to reunite the band. Though they try to state that they're more then just a band and that being apart didn't mean they didn't still all care about each other, they also admit right after that they DID still get too wrapped up in their new Internet hobbies and that it wasn't worth it in the long run if the magic of The Electric Mayhem and their friendship, Nora included, was lost as a result and decide to give up their new jobs to find Nora, reunite the band, and play the Hollywood Bowl as she had dreamed for them to.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • Zoot's photographs are on display in a branch of The Mallory Gallery.
    • Zoot points out a photo of them taking Manhattan.
    • The band wear versions of their original outfits at the Hollywood Bowl.
  • New Media Are Evil: Subverted. While the Electric Mayhem's new social media-driven lifestyles are derided for being stupid, shallow, and ultimately unfulfilling, it's that same online following that gives them the power to mobilize their fanbases and save their show at the Hollywood Bowl, demonstrating the positive power of social media.
  • Putting the Band Back Together: Nora and Moog try to get the scattered members of The Electric Mayhem to reunite for the Hollywood Bowl, but none of them want to give up their new lives. It takes Animal telling them "NORA GONE!" to get them all back together again.
  • So Proud of You: Dr. Teeth's parents are shown to be watching him and the band play their show at the Hollywood Bowl, with Tina noticeably saying that that was her boy up on stage with a tone of pride in her voice.
  • Suddenly Fluent in Gibberish: When the others find Nora and apologize for their splitting up and reaffirm their faith in the band and her, she realizes that she can actually finally understand what Lips is saying to her, which the others take as a sure sign that she is truly one of them now.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: For once, Statler and Waldorf are actually kicked out of a show for their loud heckling (well, that and they apparently stole somebody else's seats).
