The McBrides have to throw Nana Gayle the best birthday party after nearly forgetting it.
  • A Day in the Limelight: For the McBrides.
  • Forgotten Birthday: The McBrides throw Nana Gayle a party to make up for forgetting her birthday in lieu of their cats' pet school graduation party.
  • Lost in Character: While dressed as a cat, Mrs. Bernardo gets really into the role.
  • Method Acting: In-Universe, Mrs. Bernardo is known for doing this, and in particular is completely in character as a cat.
  • Title Drop: Harold says the episode's title after confessing the truth to Nana Gayle.

Prize Fighter

While scheming to obtain the Mini McFiggle award, Lola hears a rumor that winning the award will lead to the end of her pageant career.
  • A Day in the Limelight: For Lola. This episode also marks one of the only times the rest of the family makes no appearance whatsoever.
  • Aesop Amnesia: Lola has apparently forgotten about not helping people just for self-serving reasons.
  • An Aesop: Don't do good deeds just to get rewarded; do them because they're the right thing to do.
  • Diegetic Soundtrack Usage: Cheryl whistles the theme song while walking down the sidewalk.
  • Drives Like Crazy: Lola, once again, shows off her insane driving techniques by driving off the ramp of Flip's tow truck and catching some air on the way to Royal Woods Middle school, all while Meryl's her passenger at that.
  • Heel Realization: Lola realizes how selfish she's been when she witnesses Diana Sherwood assisting senior citizens without asking anything in return.
  • Helping Granny Cross the Street: In an effort to make herself look good, Lola bribes Mr. Grouse to allow her to help him across the street.
  • Inconsistent Coloring: Howard's hair is light brown instead of the usual red.
  • Spiteful Spoiler: Lola spoils Southern Hospitality for Cheryl and Meryl.
  • Twin Switch: Meryl is covering for Cheryl at Royal Woods Elementary, while simultaneously also working at Royal Woods Middle.
  • What You Are in the Dark: When Lola meets Diana Sherwood helping seniors at the mall, she states that Diana already won the award and so no longer needs to impress the judges, to which Diana replies that she's doing it just because she enjoys volunteering.
