• Informed Poverty: Possibly averted with Dirk. Upon entering June's house, he comments on how big the house is, when really it is an average house of only two stories. He even compares June's family owning a dishwasher to being at the White House.
• It's All Junk: June tries to salvage several items that she holds dear from her home, but she eventually sacrifices them all to fight off the zombies and termite monster.
• Out of the Frying Pan: Each attempt to escape the zombies and termites leads to the kids ending up in an even worse situation; first they get trapped on the ground floor of June's house, then upstairs, then her bedroom, then the bathroom and then the basement. Lampshaded by Quint.
• The Worm That Walks: The termite monster is made up of thousands of termites.
• You Can't Go Home Again: June’s home gets overrun with zombies and termites. At the end of the episode, the house finally collapses.
