"Get Out of My Head!"

Original Air Date: September 7, 2001

"Get Out of My Head!" contains examples of…

  • And I Must Scream: Judging by Mandy’s Death Glare at Billy after he’s forced out of her head, it’s implied that she was mentally conscious during the whole time he was possessing her.
  • Book Ends: The episode begins and ends with Billy’s cat Milkshakes getting possessed by someone; first Grim as a demonstration, then Mandy to take revenge on Billy.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Billy really shouldn't have possessed Mandy as even he knows it's a death wish.
  • Exorcist Head: Mandy does this in front of Billy when she’s possessing Milkshakes.
  • Eyes Are Mental: Whenever someone is possessed, they get the possessor’s eyes as a result.
  • Eye Scream: While it’s not shown, Billy screams “My eyes!” as he’s being attacked by a Mandy-possessed Milkshakes, implying that she clawed his eyes out.
  • Get Out!: Mandy growls this at Billy after he’s forced out of her head. He quickly complies.
  • Grand Theft Me: The whole plot of the episode is Billy using Mandy’s body. Grim also uses it on Milkshakes as an example. Milkshakes would be possessed again at the end of the episode, this time by Mandy herself.
  • Infernal Background: When Billy possesses Mandy, the background is filled with flames before Billy's eyes and grin reveal the transfer was a success.
  • Innocuously Important Episode: This would be another run-of-the-mill episode if it weren’t for the fact that this is the episode that introduced Irwin and kickstarted his crush on Mandy. Afterwards, he would end up as a major player in numerous episodes.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Billy gets ambushed by Mandy in his cat's body at the end of the episode after he possessed her body throughout the episode.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Billy is shown to be guilty about possessing Mandy, talking about it with Milkshakes. Except it’s not Milkshakes but Mandy herself.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Irwin’s crush on Mandy is started by Billy flirting with him while possessing her.
  • Oh, Crap!: Billy has one of these when he realizes Mandy had possessed Milkshakes and is about to beat the shit out of him.
  • Pre Ass Kicking One Liner: Mandy gives one to Billy after it’s revealed that she’s possessed Milkshakes.
Mandy: You know, Billy… you can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose, but you can’t pick your friend’s nose.
  • Rejected Apology: In a sense. While Billy doesn't outright apologize to Mandy for possessing her, he does later on remorsefully relay his actions to Milkshakes in his room and admits he deserves punishment over it. Just then, Mandy reveals herself to have possessed Milkshakes, sarcastically acknowledging Billy's confession of guilt and pacing towards him to inflict that punishment.
  • Rewatch Bonus: At the end of the episode, if you look closely at Milkshakes while she’s sleeping on Billy’s bed, you can see that the tips of her ears are slightly curved inward, resembling Mandy’s hair. This is subtle Five-Second Foreshadowing that she’s been possessed by Mandy.
  • Shadow Discretion Shot: Cat-Mandy mauling Billy at the end of the episode is briefly seen with silhouettes of the two through Billy's bedroom window.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Grim only appears at the beginning and midway point, but it's thanks to him the plot rolled by giving Billy the idea.
  • Voices Are Mental: When someone gets possessed, they speak with the possessor’s voice, but no one seems to notice the difference when Billy possesses Mandy.
  • Wham Shot: While it's subtly foreshadowed, Mandy is revealed to have possessed Milkshakes when she pulls an Exorcist Head.
