Diane returns from a retreat with her former doctor and gets caught in the street riots. Kurt sees it on the news and rushes to her side — which takes him a while, because the elevators don't work, and once he and Lyle have climbed 21 flights of stairs, they find that the firm's floor is barricaded.
Tropes:
- Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: Diane and Kurt reunite.
- Foregone Conclusion: For Carmen, whether Diane is going to choose Kurt or Lyle is this, because earlier in the season a rioter threw a dud grenade into their elevator, and all Diane could say when she thought she was about to die was Kurt's name.
- Grand Finale: The firm breaks up with Diana going to open up a branch office in Washington DC.
- Here We Go Again!: A simultaneously dark and humorous example. The ending of the series is Donald Trump announcing his candidacy for President for the second time to "YMCA" by the Village People.
- Leaning on the Fourth Wall: The exploding-things intro takes place in-universe this time.
- Right for the Wrong Reasons: When Felix Staples approaches Reddick & Associates to help him bring Ron DeSantis to trial for sexually assaulting him, Diane immediately suspects he's making it up as a part of a "bullshit Project Veritas trickā to discredit a black firm by baiting them into taking a flimsy yet politically convenient case. Felix is in fact lying but not to discredit the firm: he wants to take down DeSantis due to seeing him as a threat to Donald Trump's potential re-election.
