- The Bus Came Back: After leaving the main cast at the end of the first season, Jessica Preston (Beau Garrett) briefly returns in the scene where the doctors and hospital administrators talk about the pandemic.
- Forgotten Fallen Friend: Downplayed. There is not a single mention of Melendez during almost the entire episode, despite his death at the end of last season. This can be explained by the fact that the episode take place over the course of six months and the characters are too worried with the pandemic to mourn for Melendez. In the final scene, Melendez appears as the fruit of Claire's imagination.
- Running Gag: The beginning of a joke that will be recurring throughout Season 4: Shaun and Lea have a very active sex life.
- Time Skip: The first two episodes take place over the course of six months.
- What Happened to the Mouse?: Carly does not appear in this episode; in fact, she never appears again for the rest of the series, and her fate is not even mentioned.
