He is finally ready... right?
Shaun is ready for the next step in his relationship with Carly... However, he continues to struggle as they grow closer and more intimate, and is dealt some troubling news about a deeply personal issue. Claire finds out in the worst possible way that the man she spent a night with is married, when he shows up at the hospital with his family.
- Can't Have Sex, Ever: Due to blood flow issues, Patient of the Week Jeanie suffers from strokes whenever she attempts to have sexual intercourse, and the surgery that will cure her won't allow her to feel any pleasure from sex ever again.
- Cliffhanger: The episode ends with Glassman revealing to Shaun that his father has cancer and has only a few days left to live.
- Contrived Coincidence: The man Claire has a one-night-stand with happens to be her patient the very next day.
- Good Adultery, Bad Adultery: Claire is portrayed as almost as guilty aa Kane due to have noticed the ring on his hand but having a one-night-stand with him anyway, but her guilt and remorse over it still makes her more symphatetic than him, who is a Serial Homewrecker who has cheated on his wife several times and doesn't hesitate to blame Claire for it.
- Heroic BSoD: Claire collapses emotionally after being humiliated by the patient's wife in front of the entire hospital.
- Modesty Bed Sheet: Justified, since Claire barely remembers their night together she modestly covers herself with her bedsheet when the stranger she slept with comes into her room, as she isn't comfortable with him.
- My God, What Have I Done?: Claire is horrified when she finds out that the man she spent one night with is married and also the Patient of the Week. The worst happens: the wife finds out and slaps Claire in front of the entire hospital.
- No Social Skills: Shaun walks up to Carly who's working on the pathology lab, and states in front of all the lab workers that he wants to have sex with her that night, obviously attracting the attention of all of Carly's co-workers.
- Patient of the Week:
- Kane Omar (Sharif Atkins), a married man who Claire had one-night stand who was part of a car accident the day after their encounter, leading Claire to have an awkward interaction with his wife and daughter.
- Jeanie (Irene Choi) a young female patient who's unable to have any sexual activity due to blood flow issues on her sexual organs, leading her to have to come to the hard decision of whether to remove her or not. Her boyfriend eventually convinces her will love her no matter what and she proceeds with the surgery.
- Shoulders-Up Nudity: When Carly and Shaun take off their shirts to stand in front of each other, the camera stays just above her shoulders, with a brief Toplessness from the Back shot of Carly when she turns around.
- Their First Time: Shaun and Carly attempt to have their first night together, but Shaun backs down once again.
- What Did I Do Last Night?: The episode starts with Claire waking up with a strange man in her house, having obviously slept with him the night before but having vague memory of it.
