"One Flew Out of the Cuckoo's Nest" is the series finale of The Golden Girls

Blanche sets Dorothy up with her Uncle Lucas (Leslie Nielsen), a fact neither of the two are happy about. They plot revenge on Blanche by pretending to be madly in love, only to fall in love for real. When they plan to get married, Blanche, Rose, and Sophia wonder about where to go from here.

Tropes:

  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: Dorothy is being taken in a limousine to her wedding, only for the driver to suddenly change routes and pull over. He reveals himself as Stan, who delivers a speech about how no matter what, she'll always be the only woman he truly loves, and she agrees that she loves him too.
  • Bait-and-Switch: When facing the prospect of going out with Lucas, Dorothy comments that "He's a little bit Country, and I'm a little... too smart for this".
  • Door Focus: The final scene of the series. Dorothy, who just got married, is moving out and after saying her goodbyes to her friends, she walks out the door. Everyone is focused on the door as they take in the fact that Dorothy is now gone, but she comes back for another round of hugs and goodbyes before leaving again. Dorothy comes back yet again, this time through the patio/back door before leaving again once more. The girls look around the room expecting Dorothy to come back in some other fashion, but she doesn't return.
  • Estranged Soap Family: Even for the Grand Finale, this remains in practice. Of the bride's family, those not in attendance include both of her own children (Kate and Michael), her sister (Gloria), and her uncle Angelo. Of the groom's family, the only one in attendance is his niece, Blanche. None of his other nieces and nephews by his brother Curtis aka Big Daddy (Virginia, Charmaine, and Clayton) show up, and neither do any of Blanche's children (his great-nieces and great-nephews).
  • Fourth-Date Marriage: How Dorothy and Lucas's marriage eventually comes to be. Blanche tricks them into going on a blind date with each other, because his visit coincides with one of her dates; she doesn't want to completely ditch him but she wants to have fun, so she sets him up with Dorothy to keep them both occupied. When Dorothy and Lucas cotton on to Blanche's deception, they set up a fake engagement in revenge, only for them to genuinely fall in love, get engaged, and marry.
  • Repeat After Me: The wedding minister asks Lucas to repeat his wedding vow, but Hilarity Ensues when Rose does it instead.
Wedding minister: With this ring, I thee wed.
Rose: With this ring, I thee wed.
  • Sexual Euphemism: The nickname Dorothy and Lucas come up with for sex is revealed to be "Mr. Peterson".
  • Special Guest: Leslie Nielsen, at the height of his fame from The Naked Gun series, appears as Uncle Lucas.
  • Wedding Episode: Part 2 shows Dorothy and Lucas' wedding.
