Go To

A Plot: Erica and her roommate 'Valley Erica' begin to irritate each other, which escalates to the point where Valley Erica claims their entire room in order to spend time with a boyfriend. Erica invites Barry to stay with her so he can annoy Valley Erica, only for them to form an unexpected romance.

B Plot: Beverly struggles to cope with an empty house, as Adam is staying with Dave Kim for a week. She takes it upon herself to look after Rick Mellor, who was accidentally injured by Adam when he fell off a rope, as well as his brother Nick, whose wife kicked him out.

  • Can't Live with Them, Can't Live Without Them: After an argument about how they are strangers who were randomly paired together rather than actual friends, the Ericas realize this and end up making amends.
  • Gone Horribly Wrong: Erica inviting Barry over to annoy 'Valley Erica', only for him to fall in love and turn against her. There is also Murray inviting Nick Mellor to take care of his brother Rick so Beverly can't baby him, only to learn that Nick is also in a position that Beverly thinks she can fix.
  • Invented Individual: 'Valley Erica' eventually admits that she never had a boyfriend; she just claimed she did and invoked the titular Scrunchie Rule because she considered Erica overbearing and wanted some private time.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: After the Mellors start behaving like their children, Murray convinces Adam to come home early and comfort his mother, who has this reaction when she realizes what she's done.
  • Unwitting Pawn: In their efforts to one-up each other and get room dominance, Erica and Barry invite Lainey, the JTP, and Johnny and Carla to the room under false pretenses. None of them are happy to learn the truth.
