A misplaced banana peel leaves Molly's family locked in the basement, so she and Scratch head off to Weird Larry for help. But as they keep getting distracted, tension rises between the other McGees...
Tropes:
- Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Molly can get distracted very easily, which makes her mission to get help very hard. Scratch, who went with her to make she she doesn't get distracted, isn't any better.
- Banana Peel: Molly slipping on a banana peel is what causes her to crash into the basement door, accidentally locking her family inside.Scratch: You know, I always thought the banana peel gag was kinda tired, but seeing it in real life? Wow... (chuckles) It's a classic.
- Continuity Nod: During the fight between the McGees stuck in the basement, Darryl resorts to unleashing the centipede swarm living in the walls first seen in "Mama's Gotta Hustle".
- Demonic Possession: Scratch takes over Weird Larry's body.
- Epic Fail: Pete's attempt to open the door. He hurts his shoulder, falls down the stairs, and lands hard on the ground.
- Gilligan Cut: Molly and the possessed Larry are driving home and try to resist countless distractions. There's even a song about it. Suddenly, the music stops. We cut to Molly and Larry stuffing themselves with food.
- Locked in a Room: The McGee family (sans Molly) are trapped in the basement.
- Missed Him by That Much: Molly and Scratch rush over to Weird Larry's pawn shop to get him to unlock the basement door, but they get distracted by the soap store across the street and decide to go in for a little while. When they get back to the pawn shop, it's closed. Larry closes at 2:00 PM on Sundays, and it was 2:03.
- Subterranean Sanity Failure: Played for Laughs; in the few hours they're locked in the basement, the McGees go into Crazy Survivalist mode, hoarding supplies and going at each other's throats.
- Tastes Like Feet: At the end of the episode, one of Molly's holiday bath bombs goes off, and Scratch complains that it smells "like a reindeer's undercarriage."
- Worth It: Scratch says it was "Worth it" after getting a bad case of brain freeze from eating a banana split in one bite.
